Based on what? Antonio Cervantes is rated as one of the best 140 pound fighters, Carlos Palomino is also a solid fighter and HOFer. Who is to say they couldn't compete in this era? Again, you don't know what you're talking about.
I'm actually losing braincells reading some these posts. Marquez, Monzon, Benitez, not great fighters ? Cervantes and Palomino not being able to compete in this era ? Cervantes is considered a great fighter and a top 10 Jr Welterweight of all time. And Palomino made 7 defences of the Welterweight title, had a rock solid chin was never stopped in his entire career, and is one of the most underrated Welterweight champions in history. Some of these comments just make you shake your head unreal.
Crawford is a bore. He has completely failed to generate any drama in his career. Matchmaking is very political and difficult, but still, he has managed to not fight any of his chief rivals and it’s getting rather late in the day for him.
Hate to say it but the tragic Gerald G-man McClellan only beat 2 top class fighters in his career Julian Jackson and a rapidly fading John Mugabi apart from those two his best win was over Gilbert Baptist who wasn’t world class.You can’t put him and the late Vernon Forrest in the same category as Monzon,Cotto,Benitez and MarquezJust because Forrest and McClellan are tragic figures doesn’t mean you have to overrate them.Crawford is not a great fighter yet because he doesn’t have a deep enough resume but he has beaten a lot of good to very good fighters(Gamboa,postol,Beltran,Porter,diaz,burns,indongo,brook,horn and others).He achieved more than Mcclellan for sure and probably Forrest.Forrest beat Mosley twice and Quartey(controversially),but he hasn’t a hall of fame resume overall,although Ray Mancini is somehow in the hall of fame,so there is still hope for Forrest.
Canelo has arguably the best resume in boxing. Think about it Plant, Saunders, and Love are better than any fighter on Spence and Crawford's resume
