Like seriously though every person I’ve seen talking about woman’s boxing is a male. Even out of the thousands of people on this forum I’m pretty sure nearly every single one is a guy. I have never met a women who cares or knows about boxing. The reason why I’m bringing this up is because the reason woman’s boxing exists is because of equality but do any women other than the pundits actually care about the sport?
No. And as I posted in another thread, even Natasha Jonas is copying Joshua's hammy gimmick. Everything comes back to the men. https://ibb.co/30Qtz44 https://ibb.co/9nJgB6H https://ibb.co/6wHtszs
I'm pretty sure they do. You can tell by the cheers at these women's fights that a lot of people in the crowd are women.
From what I've seen the standard is very poor. The one on the Joyce parker undercard was awful I think it's good for promoters to look progressive and save a bit of money at the same time.
Women's boxing is, at best, terrible quality. At worst it is a sick, upside-down vision of the roles of men and women in a healthy society. The rest of the time it's a gimmick to sell to people without many functioning brain cells. The only other people who buy into the wole thing are men with self-esteem so low that they feel threatened by and, by extension, have an admiration for the fighting """talents""" of these women. Any decent man should ignore it for the circus it is; of clowns, by clowns, for clowns. Make no mistake it is these two types of men keeping the whole thing rolling, not one flesh-and-blood female really cares about it, and rightly so.
I did notice the BBC had a live text feed for the women's boxing last night. It was at the top of the page so headline position and still it only had 1000/2000 people viewing the page, which is super low. Some events seem to capture public attention and they'll pull in bumper crowds but for the most part it's still relatively obscure no matter how much the BBC try to push it. I just can't give a rats ass about women's sports. I barely have time to watch mens sports these days so when somebody comes over and says "did you watch the women's rugby World Cup final yesteray" the answer is no I ****ing didn't.
Women's boxing is a waste of time for everyone involved. It's embarrassing and it should be outlawed.
At the top level It’s beautiful @ the bottom level its reprehensible. but that could be said about Mens boxing as well or any other sport fort that matter.
Hearn and Arum both seem to be making big pushes to make women's boxing happen. I'm not sure we'll know if it's worked or not for a long time to come. I suspect their reasoning has less to do with equality and more to do with expanding the talent pool (so they can pay less) and the audience (so they make more) at the same time. Plus women are pretty good at promoting themselves on social media which is an increasingly important part of job. I think their timing could be good. People are getting worked up about crime so maybe women will take an interest to try to learn something about self-defense.
Do y'all think that Taylor/Serrano II would actually sell out Croke Park? I feel like it could. If it does, I feel like that would quell a lot of doubters.
I don't think the whole stadium would be open but I could see it doing big numbers, around 50,000. A lot of non fight fans will want to attend for the spectacle plus those who watched the first fight. The card would be stacked with Irish talent too.
