If Wilder uses his jab, he'll probably beat Ruiz

Wilder was able to fend off Stiverne for 12 rounds with his jab in an underrated performance.

Ruiz had a hard time getting past the long jabs of guys like Parker, Joshua, and recently Ortiz (who was old as hell). Ruiz doesn't move his head enough.

Wilder's reach/height advantages will be insane. If he can consistently stick that jab out in a way that commands respect and then follows it up with double jabs, 1-2's, and maintains his distance, Ruiz will get extremely frustrated and there won't be much he can do.

He could probably knock him out with it if he really sat down on it.

Wilder has the tools to handle Ruiz jr, sure. Does he have the mentality? Wilder has constantly stated he only has to be perfect for two seconds to win and his gameplan is usually the same:

Feel out his opponent for a round or three, throw right hands, scream Bomb Squad while twerking and go home before tweleve rounds have passed.

Ruiz jr has a chance to get inside and do damage in those first few rounds if Wilder sticks to this plan, the one Stiverne fight being the exception as you said.

It will be interesting to see where Wilder is mentally and how serious he takes Andy.

Think it’ll look similar to the Ortiz rematch.

I agree with the Wilder jab viewpoint, but i think the real deciding factor will be if Ruiz is in anything like decent shape for him, if so i think we could be in for a interesting bout, if not then get the ring floor reinforced as Mr Ruiz will be bouncing off it in a state of unconsciousness.

Ruizs only chance is to stick to him like Ward and work on the inside

I think he respects Ruiz. When they met on showtime discussing the HW division he addressed him as a peer. He knows Ruiz is dangerous.

I don't think Ruiz will show up out of shape for arguably the most important fight of his life. Not only is this an eliminator and likely his last chance at the title again, he's going in there with one of the scariest punchers of all time. He simply cannot afford to show up like he did in Joshua 2.

I want Wilder to knock the **** out of Ruiz. I don’t hate Ruiz but him coming in totally out of shape for the rematch against Joshua was embarrassing. Guy has no dedication at all.

How is making your first title defense not motivation enough to get your ass in shape.

Ruiz and discipline just don't belong in the same sentence. He just does not seem to have the dedication and discipline.

I mean you can ask a a lot of guys that question. Buster Douglas, Max Baer, etc. Some guy's discipline falls off a cliff like an anvil right after they win the title.

Then he better hope the ref stops it early.

The Stiverne fight was practically 8 years ago. When he fights Ruiz he will be close to or indeed 38 years old, and it will be his first real fight since the Fury thrashing.

It would be awesome if he went out and had the legs to jab Ruizs head off, but at this stage it's a question mark for me if he will have the legs to keep it up. Tall lanky guys like him don't always have the best longevity to their legs and mobility.

Will Ruiz even bother getting into shape?

He hasn’t looked motivated and in shape since he smashed Femi into the middle of next week.

Even if the version that struggled to beat Ortiz turns up he gets brutally stopped at some point. Too slow, too lazy and too easy to hit.

And if he doesn't he'll still beat him.
