Porter couldn't even beat Ugas, his win against Danny was questionable as well, he came short against Thurman too, his real record is a fail.

Brook was a very good fighter in his prime and should not be overlooked against the smaller Cotto in this hypothetical matchup, who struggled at 147 against bigger natural WW'S like Clottey for example. I like Cotto but I think Brook would win a close fight.

Completely agree with this Brook was a beast but just didn't get to shine due to poor management of his career. that and starting at a heavier weight. Durability issues was post only an issue jumping up and facing GGG. I think pre that fight Brook is too strong and skilled for Cotto.
It's a pickem fight but would edge with Brook personally.

Cotto, but evenly matched until 9 or 10 rounds.

Brook, Cotto wasn´t all that. deflated by Margarito, busted up and forced to foul against Judah, beaten from pillar to post by lul´ Pac, very mediocre fighter.

Good matchup. My random thoughts are:

    1) Cotto is way more proven and it's very hard to pick against that. But a) Brook was actually pretty good, just terribly managed; b) Cotto struggled with plenty of fighters who weren't as good as Brook; and c) Brook is considerably bigger - is this the case of great small man losing to good big man?

    2) There is an argument that since Cotto fought Canelo fairly close (some here think it was close to even; not me though) who then fought a close fight with GGG, while GGG simply bulldozed Brook, Cotto must be at a higher level than Brook. However I think this is unconvincing; triangle theories are not reliable due to styles and career stages. The Brook version of GGG would have probably bulldozed Cotto in similar fashion, losing rounds but ending the fight with his power.

In summary my head says Cotto but I have a gut feeling that he might lose this.

As most others have said... I think it's an ultra competitive fight that's ultimately fairly even, I think Brook gains an edge in physicality and size, and Cotto gains an edge in skills.

I do think Cotto wins the points game based on his slight skills edge.

I think his jab would play a big role in this fight, and I think he eeks out a 7-5 decision with Brook winning the 12th round.

    Very good matchup.

Good points & analysis, i feel the same, as both guys could very well go 1-1-1 after three fights.
