Watched that fight last week. Canelo could do nothing to Bivol. I would honestly be more interested in Joe Smith or Beterbiev for him at 175.
Who knows if Bivol will be available by that time if they end up making the Beterbiev fight, either way it that will pretty much take Canelo's whole year right there.
Just like Kambosos in his rematch against Haney, what can Canelo possibly do to change the outcome of a rematch with Bivol?
I want Bivol vs Berbetiev. Not interested in seeing Canelo get beaten up like a ginger stepchild again.
Canelo just needs to stay in his own lane and let Bivol and Beterbiev duke it out. He's got plenty of other options, Bivol shouldn't be one of them.
You guys don't understand. By having the rematch with Bivol in September 2023, it gives enough time for Bivol vs Beterbiev to get made. If Bivol loses that fight, Canelo won't rematch Bivol so all is well for him and it doesn't look like he doesn't want the fight.
I agree, but Canelo may well believe he just had a bad day and can win next time. A lot of the very top fighters are somewhat deluded about their own abilities, for some that is linked to their very high confidence which helps them perform. I'd much prefer he fought Benavidez (or even Charlo or Andrade) and didn't worry about the tune up, especially if that would make the Bivol fight his only meaningful fight in a year. I much prefer the 2 major fights a year Canelo of 2019-present to the 1 meaningful fight a year Canelo of 2014-2018: 2022: Bivol, GGG III 2021: Plant, BJS 2020: Callum Smith (covid cancelled the May fight) 2019: Kovalev, Jacobs 2018: GGG II 2017: GGG I 2016: Liam Smith 2015: Cotto 2014: Lara
