Jake Lamotta of course. The guy with almost super human endurance, soaking up punishment.
Meeting one of the longest reigning middleweight champs in history, with
    devastating power in his fists.

    Who takes it?

I think Golovkin boxes from behind the jab and takes him apart technically. GGG is the last guy you want to bumrush and 'soak up punishment' from. The dudes that tried that ended up in hospital. If LaMotta was much bigger then maybe you could make a case but he's not. He's probably smaller.

I don’t know about smaller Jakey was a HW as an amateur. In the ring GGG will be the bigger guy though, for sure just the way they do things now. I don’t think GGG is even a better BOXER then Jake.

Can you explain, in detail, exactly how GGG would take him apart technically?
Specifically, what do you see in Lamotta that GGG would capitalize on? What specific technical advantages do you think are in play? How would they play out? Specifically.

Very intruiging question! Jake was being beaten by Dauthille a very good fighter, but ,imo some way short of GGG.
I have a hunch Golovkin might just have the combination of power ,boxing IQ ,and fine footwork that could be the antidote for Jake's come forward hooking style.

Who did GGG ever beat that was as good and as accomplished as LaMotta. Nobody.

Lamotta was a big guy beating up on little guys. GGG would crush him easier than Rolls.

Lamotta is a dinosaur. He doesn't belong in a modern boxing match.

Specifically I don't like LaMotta's footwork. He looks somewhat plodding and unable to adjust his range quickly. Golovkin has excellent balance and one of the fundamental parts of his game is controlling the range. Look at the heavy steps that Jake takes in this video. It's clear that Robinson's movement is giving him fits:

Furthermore LaMotta tends to lean forward in the crouch and does not keep his hands very high. Robinson is able to pop him with the jab repeatedly as a result. I very much suspect that a master jabber like Golovkin who has about three inches in reach advantage on LaMotta will fully capitalize on this gap. Lest we forget

Next, Jake has the same problem that Golovkin has due to his stance. He seems somewhat susceptible to the uppercut because he's putting his weight over his front foot and leaning forward. And Golovkin has a great uppercut, which he uses fluidly in combination with other punches:

What I will say is that LaMotta's upper body sway is pretty good against looping punches, so he may well evade the worst of GGG's hooks in that manner. Unfortunately merely evading incoming fire does not win a fight on its own and Jake was not the heaviest puncher, whereas Golovkin ranks as one of the heaviest-handed middleweights. LaMotta will be relying on his toughness and stamina to win this and I personally don't like that plan to beat Gennady. Even at 40 years old GGG's stamina is usually his strong point against other fighters.

Yes, Golovkin would have hammered him. Jake lost a bit too often and not to guys named Robinson. These losses are vs men in some cases Golovkin would easily beat. BCS8's post sums it up nicely One can not make good detailed case like BCS8 has ( or can they ) for LaMotta winning. Calling all the old 212's for their 411's. Details please and we know that he 1-5 vs. Sugar Ray Robinson.

Not to mention fighters like Danny Jacobs would be lightheavyweights in Lamotta's day.

A modern day Lamotta would still get hammered. he'd end up like Broner with his bad habits.

I think it would be very close , not very different than the Canelo fights ... Jake was at his best faster and a better volume/combination puncher while GGG was the straighter, harder puncher ... both had insane chins so it's going the distance ..the better shape Jake was in the closer the fight ... GGG was always in top shape .. tough call ..
