If Deontay WIlder Had Fought M. Tysons opposition?

It is probably fair to assume that he would not have taken so many difficult fights, in such a timeframe.

 

I think he beats most of those. I can see someone like Tucker frustrating him though.

 

You just beat me to this one,Mr Magoo. Yes I also think that Tucker would have had a good shot at beating him. If Tubbs had been in better condition then I'd have given him a shot too.

 

ESB Wilder would lose to anyone of them who had a pulse. Real life Wilder beats all of them.

 

It's a tricky one because i believe some of them at their peak like Pinklon Thomas would beat Wilder, but Thomas by the time he fought Tyson seemed to age like 10 years in like 12 months from his drug abuse. So if we're basing on it the form of the opponents when they fought Tyson...... Wilder would probably beat most of them. But as @janitor if Wilder fought them all one after the other, there is bound to be a banana skin somewhere for Wilder.

 

Wilder is a belt milker.

He is not a coward, he just cares more about the security of his family, than he does about his legacy.

I suspect that if he had picked up a strap in the 80s, then he would have followed the same logic.

 

Yeah tucker had a great chin, conditioning, size and could box a little bit. Wasn’t a terribly aggressive fighter but I can see Wilder struggling like hell trying to get him out of there

 

I don’t know. Luis Ortiz despite his advanced age was considered lethal by a lot of people before wilder fought him. And Tyson Fury was also a formidable challenger. Wilder tried to get fights with Joshua and Povetkin but those fell through for reasons that had nothing to do with him. I think some of the second raters he fought because they were the only makable fights

 

How to milk a belt:

1. Fight a series of weak opponents, to build up your cash reserves.

2. When people grow tired of that game, you start going after stronger opposition.

3. Try to find a strong opponent, who represents a plane of weakness, among the strong opponents.

4. You got past him? Well done! Time to either retire, or cash out against the very best in the division!

Cashing out against the best, is not the same thing as wanting to fight the best.

Wilder basically stumbled on point 3.

 

That’s a rather crafty career track. But in order to apply it to Wilder you have to find an instance while he was champion where he and his people purposely steered clear of the best. Keep in mind it’s not just about who he didn’t fight but WHY he didn’t fight them as well

 

I think Pinklon Thomas would have a good chance to beat him and maybe Smith and Tillis. Hard to say. Wilder is a hard one to judge given his lack of top flight opposition.

 

I think he most likely loses 3 or 4 times. Nothing to be ashamed of, it's just a way deeper group than who DW fought other than Fury, Ortiz and Stiverne. You have to take into account top fighters like Witherspoon and Thomas took some L's in the 80s
