Nope, because he know that his chin is bad. If he traded with Tua like he did with McCall he would get knocked.
Not "nope" because his chin is bad, "yes" because his chin is bad. If you think his chin is bad, you think he did absolutely the right thing. Strategically, he did the right thing, and if you think,a s you do, that he has a bad chin, then you think that even more than someone who disagrees with you. There is absolutely no reason for Lewis to let Tua hit him on the chin even if it is granite, though.
McGrain has answered this. Frazier having 3 inches more reach than Tua ,at 73 inches ,is going to make an appreciable difference when faced with Lennox's 84inch wingspan? Ever heard the adage ,"box a fighter, fight a boxer ?"
Frazier because of his stature, had no option but to trade in all his fights, would you think he could be successful jabbing and moving? Lewis could both box and punch he always had options.
Just 3 inch? When you pick someone over someone 3 inches are too much but in this case is nothing? Ali was better boxer than Lewis and Frazier beat him and Lewis is not as strong as Foreman. He was not even harder puncher and stronger than old Foreman.
Exactly ! For me this was close to Lewis finest hour, in against a lethal puncer with a solid chin, what you do ? trade with him, not clever, Lewis boxed a near perfect fight, his strategy was well thought out and implemented with aplomb, when and if he had to, he could go to the trenches with the best of em, but if the guy is a threat and dangerous better not to me thinks. stay safe buddy.
He is using just boxing and his size, but trading Lewis from early 90s would get killed by Tua or Tyson. I think that Stewart Lewis beats Frazier but that Early Lewis would get beaten.
He was successful against Ali, and Ali was better and faster than Lewis. Better chin, speed and footwork.
How many top drawer punchers did Frazier face? Lewis fought bangers like; Mercer Ruddock Norrison Vitali Bruno Tua How many of those floored him? Frazier met one really heavy duty puncher and got annihilated twice.
Who they beat? Ruddock was stopped by a bum David Jaco and Mercer was outboxed by old Larry Holmes and went life and death with Cooper. Not very good punchers just big guys with solid chins. That one puncher is stronger and harder puncher than all of these combined.
Valid point, when you consider that Frazier was floored twice by Bonavena, and lucky not to have been stopped, thinking Tua had much quicker hands than the very ponderous Oscar, so am in agreement. stay safe buddy.
I love Joe but we have to get real here ... Lennox was also a great fighter and so much bigger ... P4P Frazier was better ... H2H , Lennox stops him ..
Bruno not a good puncher what ? He had 38 KOs in 40 wins. Ruddock, Bruno, were both tremendous punchers.
