How come the Lennox Lewis vs Vitali Klitschko fight didn't go to the scorecards if it went 6 rounds?

As much as I was clamoring for a rematch I can respect the decision. And in light of how highly Vitali is regarded head to head and how he rarely lost a round in his fights that is a great way for him to end his career. Also it’s not like he was a spring chicken or retiring and Un retiring every few months….

That’s not it though.

Lewis did want the rematch but his future wife, Violet gave him an ultimatum: he either retires or she leaves him. Violet had been his significant other for three years that point and she had always hated the fact that as a boxer, Lewis could get seriously hurt. Given the fact that he ended up marrying her, they are still happily married and have three children, I think Lewis made the right decision with not giving Vitali the rematch and retiring instead.

“But what really caused the talks of a rematch to cease was neither Vitali’s nor Lennox’s doing, instead it was all because of a woman. According to a recent interview with Lennox’s former master trainer Emanuel Steward, Lennox’s wife Violet Chang did not want him to ever box again, giving him an ultimatum to choose: it’s either boxing or her. (East Side Boxing' One the Ropes Boxing Radio Program, Geoffrey Ciani).

“I told Lennox after the fight: I feel like we owe Vitali a rematch. Lennox agreed with me. Even after a year since Lennox left boxing, we talked about that fight. She didn’t want him to continue boxing, despite the fact that Lewis still wanted to fight.”

Haha, you’re joking right? Wlad would not have lasted as long as Vitali with his glass jaw, especially not if he got caught in the same type of fight, Wlad was not as tough or durable as his brother.

Which of Vitalis wins leads you to believe this? He was an exciting fighter and I believe he could have proven himself to be better than Wlad...but his resume is pretty weak.

Might have been caused by a punch, but raked wider afterwards.
Vitali never had the power of his brother and couldn't even put Lewis away who was hardly iron-chinned.
He needed about 1000 punches to stop Sanders on his feet.
Wlad would put Lewis to sleep with one or two clean hits. Better chin than Lewis too. Lewis wouldn't have taken that many shots from AJ.

LOOOL

Cut caused by a punch. Lewis landed that overhand right hand throughout the fight. Defensive flaws of Vitali were exposed.

Vitali in his prime on his best night lost to old overweight Lewis. Deal with it.

He hiding behind that wife comment. She knew who he was when she married him.

Truth is he got lucky and didnt want that smoke again.
Fair enough, but own it.

Lewis never talked about it. It was Steward and then later Vitali who both confirmed this.

Fair enough, have an agenda, but own it.

Not wanting to admit he ducked the rematch then cause Lewis was old and sloppy lookibg.

I dont care about Vitali either to be honest. Did feel Lewis owed him a rematch for how it ended but given that he was like 37? Its also fair if he does retire of course.

Look, your main two arguments are that:
1) Three separate cuts that needed a total of 60 stitches and made Vitali’s face looking like it was put through a meat grinder was “luck”
2) Manny Steward was a shameless liar

I mean, whatever floats your boat, mate, but that’s ridiculous.
