How come the Lennox Lewis vs Vitali Klitschko fight didn't go to the scorecards if it went 6 rounds?

Better chin than Lewis? Lewis hit the floor 2 times in his career while Wlad hit the floor 15x, it’s not even close on who had the better chin.

And no, Lewis wouldn’t need to have taken that many shots from AJ because Lewis would of stopped him early.

Im not even brit, Lewis never did any of that. Their heads being close together in the clinches is obviously normal. Vitali had 4 different cuts. Lewis busted his face with punches.

Was Vitali’s cut any worse than Fury’s cut against Wallin? It’s been a while since I’ve watched either fight, so I was just curious.

How it ended?, did you read the explanation from the doctor at ringside who stopped it:
"When he raised his head up, his upper eyelid covered his field of vision," "At that point I had no other option but to stop the fight. If he had to move his head to see me, there was no way he could defend his way against a punch."

This Dr was a specialist in dermatology and reconstructive surgery alongside his ringside medicine expertise, he had been officiating as ringside medic for 14 yrs at time of the Lewis vs Klitschko bout, so i think him saying fight to be stopped, due to cut inflicted by the punches of Lewis has no less value than a ko, or unanimous points loss.

Should boxers who are behind on the cards, but throws one bomb squad level punch to defeat an opponent, owe it to an opponent to give them a rematch? Not in my opinion no.

Lennox retired at 38 yrs old after 44 bouts and as undisputed world heavyweight champion, the last to date undisputed champion at the weight, he owed Vitali nothing, he beat Vitali fair and square.

It was worse, from memory he had multiple lacerations and the momentum had shifted to Lewis' favor. I haven't watched it since it happened but that's my recollection. Fury's cut was bad too and I've seen fights stopped for less

Wlad hit Ross Puritty with all he got but couldn't rock him a bit. Vitali on the other hand, stopped Puritty.

Wrong. Vitali was beating Lewis from beginning to the end.

Because the cut was a by product of vitali getting his brains beaten in during the fight therefore it's a legitimate tko

Eye cut caused by a thumb. Lewis ran from the rematch the whole boxing world wanted to see.

How it ended is that lewis got very lucky with the cut despite it being caused by a punch since he was down on the scorecards.

A fight like that usually deserves a rematch.

Its like retiring after your opponent dq's himself (like bowe vs golota) and then never facing him again.

Again, given everything its understandable from Lewis pov but as fans we can feel like a final rematch should have settled it and been fair to Vitali.

Yeah winning on cuts when your getting whooped is luck.

Think about it. If Frazier was cut in fotc and forced tko'd despite whooping Ali.
Wouldnt Ali be considered lucky in geberal that his punches opened a cut that found him a path to victory? Given that he otherwise would most likely lose a clear ud?
You atleast would want to see a rematch then rather than him retiring and acting like he convincingly beat him and didnt get lucky?

And Manny Steward was amazing but lets not take every word as gospel when its more the case of trainers protecting their fighters rep.
Whats he gonna say? Yeah he ducked the rematch cause vitali was a tough opponent and we got lucky with the cut?
Of course he gonna defend his atg heavy.

No, it's not. Especially when it's not just one cut caused by a headbutt or something. There were three cuts needing a total of 60 stitches. That's the result of brutal pummelling to the face. How could anyone call this luck?

In any case, Lewis was nigh on 38, he came in overweight and underprepared for the fight. That was the worst possible Lewis you could get, and Vitali couldn't drop him, couldn't even cut him (I say even because it seems like you think cuts just miraculously happen by pure chance). What would you expect from Vitali against a motivated, fit, 240-245 lbs and prepared Lewis? It would have been a lost cause for Vitali.

Scorecards mean sweet Fanny Adams when there's a KO/TKO stoppage. Also, Lewis was definitely turning the tide. He was figuring Vitali out as the match went on. He clearly won round six and it was only 58-56 to Vitali on all three cards after six rounds. That's not exactly whooping is it. There's a reason why Vitali never claimed he had been robbed. He showed tremendous heart, he was a true warrior. But he knows that the stoppage was right. His eyesight, his career could have been in serious danger, and he also knows how Lewis started to hit his stride. Lewis was going to win that match either way.

So in a nicely wrapped way but you are still claiming Steward was a blatant liar. Because that's what you are saying as Steward, if Lewis really just ducked Vitali, could have just said nothing. He could have just said "I don't know what happened, ask Lennox" or "I'm sure Lennox was just wanted to retire and that's that". But no, you assume that Steward went on full-on Baron Münchhausen mode and made up a whole fable about Lewis' wife and the ultimatum and whatnot.

Also, you conveniently forget how Vitali confirmed too that it was Lewis' wife who stopped the rematch from happening. By stating Lewis just didn't want the rematch you not only label Stewart a liar but also make the assumptions that either Vitali too is lying to protect Lewis (for some baffling reason) or he is a gullible halfwit who ate some story up you yourself shrewdly see through from the comfort of your armchair.

I can only repeat myself: whatever floats your boat, mate, but these claims are plain risible.

He was going to continue on had Kirk Johnson beaten Vitali. Was well quoted as such back then.

that is hilarious. Bet you can watch the last ten seconds of the first round in Akinwande-Zolkin and say Akinwande wasn't a cheap shot artist too?
