Would Michael Spinks had put up a better fight against Tyson Fury than Deontay Wilder did?

Spinks is a higher caliber of a fighter so he’d probably do better.

 

Fury beats Spinks.

 

Depends on the Fury that faces him, if it a boxing match then Mr Spinks will be ok, however if Fury is in mood to ragdoll Spinks then no, Wilder had a certain right hand to be respected, Spinks would not have that, Mr Spinks not having the firepower or size to counter the giant behemoth.

 

Forget about better fight i think Spinks has a decent chance of actually beating Fury.

 

They would have had to lable Spinks or Fury might mistake him for lunch and devour him. No, Spinks would not have done better at all. His best advantage would have been his tiny size which means Fury would have to have brought a magnifying glass with him to the ring to locate him with.

 

No, Spinks beat a washed up, did not know how to hold Cooney.
Fury would not only be bigger & stronger, but more skilled by far.

Fury is way bigger than a built up Spinks, whose knees were going when he even reached his biggest size.
Add that in with his many talents & holding, it would not be very competitive.

 

Just to remind people Spinks wasn't that small, he was 6'2 1/2 very close to 6'3. Cunningham is round about the same size as Spinks, and gave Fury all he could handle. I believe Spinks's awkward elusive style, would be more troublesome for Fury than people believe.

 

Fury is too big for Spinks but what I will say is this, if Wilder had Spinks skills he would have stopped Fury in all three fights.

 

OK but you are not taking near the best Fury.
Any near top fighter might trouble another even better on any given day.
Take Tyson nearer to his prime against a man who was 0-3 & 1-5 in his last fights, Tillis, who defied advice & trade/hooked with Tyson-except for the brief knockdown it would have been at best a draw for Tyson.

But that does not mean it likely that Tillis or a similar fighter would beat the best Tyson.
Ditto for say Conn or comparing similar fighters & sizes against the Brown Bomber-& Louis was peak then.

No. Spinks didn't have the pop to keep Fury honest and Fury would just walk through him.

 

Whereas I am not sure that I agree I love your faith in a great fighter.
