I actually really like him in interviews His commentary is woeful, but that one line about Bellew makes all the suffering of him on Saturday nights worth while.
You won't find a commentator that 100% of people like, that's just how it is. He has my best wishes if the gambling addiction turns out to be true, he has a young family who he clearly adores and are probably going to have it rough for a good while now. Easy for no marks on Twitter to make jokes at a man's expense but when you've spiralled down the path of gambling and risking everything it's a very dark and lonely place, one which the only way you can see a path out of is to gamble more and hope you land lucky. The last thing you want is people knowing about it. He won't get any negativity from me, I hope he gets the help he needs.
He seems like a decent bloke and acted professionally when it came to the Matchroom split. As a commentator though, not my cup of tea. Found his voice a bit too annoying and he'd get a bit carried away with things.
Adam Smith is "gone." A reference to the disappearance of him in boxing commentary and not in anyway insensitive to the tragedy that unfolded when Putin went off the rails and decided to attack the Ukraine.
I hate his interviews because he can't stop talking! Promoters are bad enough but it's kind of their job; ask Smith if it's going to rain tomorrow and you'd be there 10 mins later. Actually don't mind his commentary that much to be honest and if these gambling stories are true then I hope he sorts himself out.
Because he's a bit more than a commentator - he clearly gets deeply involved in the setup and promotion of fights so it could be argued he's in as much of a position to fix them as anyone else.
