In none of them does he look tired. If there was a modern 15 round fighter, GGG is it

First off , nice to see you back ... I've been off a bit but it seems like a lot of the old posters have been sprung free or something .. I think you're underrating Jake quite a bit ... he was naturally extremely strong , his speed was far greater than you seem to make it and as far as facing a top puncher, I'd go with SRR over GGG every day, period .. I think this is a very good match up that could go either way ...

Good to see you too. The hand speed between the two is close to even. I rate lamotta fair. I just point things out that his fans don’t. Lamottta looping punches and a lack of reach vs Ggg’s straight and longer shots. It would be a good fight.

GGG could fight the 15 distance, I agree. But being with Jake LaMotta for that distance is a different matter, the pace and pressure would be greater

    Agreed.

LaMotta's workrate factors in considerably here.

He didn't "hammer" Alvarez and he had three chances at him, (and I never really thought all that much of Alvarez either). Who really did Golovkin beat that makes anyone feel he would beat Jake LaMotta?

Yeah good question. Even with today's extreme fangirlism, he's immensely overrated. He is talked about like some ATG-crusher, I don't see it myself. He's a hell of a fighter by today's standards, has a good jab & throws nice punches, is very well conditioned and tough, but that's about it. I think if he came up in another era & fought great comp, he would be a good contender but not THE man at 160.

Which punchers did Lamotta beat cleanly? And let's get real he lost a lot of fights. His work rate could not have been that great or he lack the skills. Can't have it both ways. Pick one. Some of those scorecard losses are bad. Even his SD's, well some of them are iffy wins. Sure, GGG would not outbox him. Pay attention to Lamotta's record, and his limited reach by watching the films. GGG was an excellent boxer equipped with all-time jab and fine work rate. Look closely at this all-time tough guy, his corner stopped two fights, neither of which were long fights.

Yes, GGG would likely hammer Lamotta. The films and the ring records highly suggest so.

Got any actual punchstats that reflect LaMotta's workrate? Let's quantify this.

Yes let’s. Man Machine you’re up. Might the punch rates be no so great say less than or even to Ggg’s before he was old which based on his style I hear is under 30….if you buy into that?

He’s sharp guy. I’d say they are lower than expected, especially in all those fights he lost but what do I know!

Look, I searched for LaMotta punch stats but couldn't find anything comprehensive. But maybe other people will do better. The footage I have seen of LaMotta suggests that he is fairly busy but not so much that a guy like Golovkin would be flustered.

I would pick GGG comfortably in this match up. I would consider betting on it, and I’m not a betting man lol.
