Consider these five incidents. 1. McDermott. Fury deducted a point in the 7th round. The first fight by the way with Fury , McDermott should have won on points! I dare you to watch it and score it. 2. Cunningham. Fury deducted a point in round five for a head-but. Fury of course was down in this fight. 3. Johnson. Fury lost a point for hitting on the break in round seven. 4. Hammer. Fury later suspended for PED's. Fury tested positive for nandrolone after the fight. The result was revealed seven months after the fight and a month after Fury had beaten Wladimir Klitschko. 5. Klitschko. Fury deducted one point in 11th round for shots behind the head. When he action was heating up! 6. Wilder 2. Fury deducted one point in round five. That's five separate points dedications! Most of which happened at critical points in the action , and a PED suspension for steroids. I'd say yes he is dirty in more ways than one.
Fury was undeniably dirty against Wilder in the second and third fights but the American was a rabbit puncher so hard to complain about.
He can be but its not that bad. In a scalr where 10 is Andre Ward he is in a lower tier with some of these veteran tactics.
Yea, smart and dirty moves, whenever he's in danger. You forgot to mention, he put concrete in his gloves against Wilder!
I'm not going there. Wilder is delusional. Maybe Fury added weights into the ring costume that Wilder says tired him out. Did they check it : )
Having carefully read the list and based on the evidence you provided from 33 fights - no, he's not especially dirty...
He can be a bit nasty once in a while, but compared to ATGs like Andre, Evander and Bernard, he's a boxing saint.
So a PED suspension ( what other fights was he on Roids? ) and 5 sepeate occasions where he was docked a point ( Quick name a heavyweight who has more, you can't I say ) is dirty. The win over Hammer should at least be thrown out, but please no more of the junk rematches! I'm not even talking about his numerous antics in he ring where he wasn't docked points.
Yes, it's not a particularly bad charge sheet. As @cuchulain points out there are far worse, inc ATGs
True, but give him time. His career isn't over yet. He's got a long way to catch up to Hopkins and Holy for sure.
Well if he's having points taken then he's not got the refs in his pockets, and it's more impressive that he wins some of those fights on points surely. McDermott was a robbery though, yes.
Fury illegally knocked out Cunningham. Shocking this fight wasn’t overturned and DQd. Fury pulled his head back with the forearm blinding him then walloped him with the other hand
On the PED issue then he like anyone caught should have life time ban, so dirty fighter label goes to all PED users caught. He is getting penalised for his in the bouts rule breaking, so yes dirty fighting, but i would not rate him as one of the dirtiest fighters, silly crap like hitting on the break brings him virtually no advantage, but gets him penalised, so i suggest on points like that he is being immature and foolish, if getting point deducted at least do some dirty fighting that gets you some advantage like hurting your opponent. I would suggest opponents would rather face the effect of the dirty fighting highlighted, than having to deal with Fury using his height and weight leaning on them in the clinches, which Fury gets away with most of time. Dirty fighter at times yes, in the league of Marciano regarding dirty fighting no.
He's not "dirty" but does need a bath from time to time. Perfect example is the Whyte KO. Dillian was going down for sure but Fury also obviously pushed him down.
