So no one from today - gotcha.

    They knew how to fight.

I didn't know that... but if you say so, I'll take your word for it!

Thanks for the advice. I realize, that my knowledge of the oldtimers is sorely lacking - so I'll do just that!

Canelo is from today. But since you insist, I'll take any SMW top 10 contender from today over Greb.
I simply mentioned those post 80s ATGs since I'd bet my house they'd all beat Greb to a pulp.

No they didn't, they suck compared to modern boxers.

Some of the guys that Greb beat not only have extensive footage available but they look good and modern in them as well. Tunney looks like a modern boxer imho.

    Then you'd be homeless.

These newer fans won't listen to reason, and will just reply with stupid crap like 'Tunney wasn't that great' or 'boxing has advanced', when in fact it is near death.

You would bet your house for sure.

But your reasoning is purely based on an assumption that everything newer is better.

Your reasoning is never based on how you think they’d have matched up stylistically.

    Never.

    Why is this?

Why don’t you research their styles and then form an opinion?

We know that not everybody today is more skilled.

We know that the fighters skill levels don’t keep progressing each decade.

You know yourself that Joe Louis was more skilled than Joe Frazier.

So why do you debate on the passages of time, instead of anything else?

It is also quite likely that some of the newer fans believe that the world was actually black and white, once upon a time.

The world was seen in black and white to the human lineage until 30 million years ago.

You wouldn't understand, Greb fought in a time when, generally, one had to fight better & better opponents to climb the rankings and actually earn a title shot - foreign concept, I know.

Greb fought at a time, when there was far less international competition than today. Fighting the same Americans over and over again, doesn't sound like a superior era to me.
