Is the Rivas fight for the bridgerweight belt?

Didn't take long for Bridger to become a steppingstone to heavyweight. Maybe Alan babic will get a shot as he's the WBC #1 contender :)

I think it's more a case of "didn't take long for Bridger to quietly die out to a lack of fights and fighters".

Apparently Simon Kean has injured his back. His scheduled fight with Eric Molina on the Dec. 16th Mahkmudov v. Wallisch card has been cancelled.

My source still tells me that Jerry Forrest's camp has yet to receive a contract for the announced December 10th fight with Jared Anderson.

And as of right now - just 9 days out...
    • Boxrec is not listing a Forrest-Anderson fight
    • Jerry Forrest's own Instagram (which is actively updated) is making no mention of this fight.

Olympic super heavyweight gold medalist Bakhodir Jalolov (12-0, 12 KOs) insists he belongs in the top ten heavyweights but will use 2023 to make that official. Last Saturday, he stopped Curtis Harper in the fourth round.

“I believe that I can be in the top ten right now and fight anyone in the top ten,” the 6’7 Jalolov said. “It’s just that every everyone has their own time, and my time is just not there yet. And we’re not in a rush. I’m following the plan of my team and when the time comes, I’ll be ready. I’m 28 years old. I’m not even in my prime yet, and when I get there, I will make everything the way it should be.

“Honestly, at this point, I just don’t see the limit to my potential. I’m just starting. I’m just barely getting into the pro game and I’m working with my coaches, I’m learning so much new stuff. We are just starting to build a tank for 12 round fights. So honestly, I just don’t know where the limit is, but I know that I’m going to improve and get much, much better.”

According to boxrec, Guido Vianello vs Stephan Shaw January 14 on the Rivas-Ejagba undercard.

I am almost sure this will fall through, but, it if comes off, good fight between two undefeateds. Neither are world-beaters, but these are the kinds of developmental fights that make guys better.

I'll be cheering for Shaw, but let the better man win.

Also, apparently, Kabayel fighting again in January. He just crushed a can and I figured he'd be out for another year and a half delivering pizzas, or whatever it is he does on the side that is so important that he can't fight more often.

Wallin scheduled to fight in the 30th against TBA. No comment. None at all.

Issac Meehan having his second fight on the 9th. Another of Kali's sons?

David Light (20-0, 12 KOs) prevailed by split decision over Brandon Glanton (17-1, 14 KOs) in their 10 round fight last night. Scores were 95-94, 97-92, 94-95.

I didn't feel the fight quite lived up to expectations, as it featured lots of holding. Not an easy fight to score. Glanton probably landed the majority of hard shots but he smothered his work and Light did a nice job of creating distance and landing good punches when he needed to do it. Light seemed to outsocre his opponent in rounds 5-9. Glanton put together a good 10th round where he scored a 10th round knockdown on a body shot - though it's possible that Light got tangled up a bit and tripped. As I said - it was not an easy fight to score.

Light has now won the WBO Global and WBO International Cruiserweight belts - which you may not have heard of before and may well never hear of again. If the rumors are true, then this could give Light a shot against Lawrence Okolie for the only WBO cruiserweight belt that any of us actually care about.

As for Glanton, he will need to go back to work to tighen up his power pressure game so as to avoid missing opportunities.

Odd. Because I've heard he's looking for money.

Light was lucky to getaway with that one.
