Should have never been a PPV event. They lost money on this PPV? On top of that the attendance looked poor too. Promoter probably lost their ass on event but that is not fighters problem with purse. Not sure why they don’t Have money upfront in escrow account. So you know you are getting paid after the event.
How can that possibly happen in today's world? This is where managers need to be involved, too bad most of them are yes men.
Dylan Marer, Legendz Entertainment and MarvNation got some explaining to do. Their purse bid was 2X the next highest bid. Almost sounds too good to be true.
I am wondering if zepeda's check also bounced or what. These are some shady back room "organizations"
There was an article at the scene. People were immediately skeptical about the purse bid. Here are the first 2 paragraphs: “Dylan Marer encountered even more skepticism than he was warned he’d need to endure after his group stunningly won a purse bid August 30 and earned the right to promote the Jose Zepeda-Regis Prograis 140-pound title fight. The boxing industry is full of perpetual pessimists who’ve been burned by supposedly deep-pocketed players who enter this risky business with grand plans that typically don’t pan out. Marer – whose company, Legendz Entertainment, has partnered with promoter MarvNation on the Zepeda-Prograis event – has slowly but surely tried to convince them that he has the financial resources required to handle an event of this magnitude and that he intends to remain in the boxing business after his company produces Zepeda-Prograis on Saturday night at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.”
Seems like issue was with bank. The promotor opened a new account and bank froze account from withdrawing 1.2 million on an account that was only a month old. Prograis confirmed he got 50% so far and the rest of it is expected this Thursday. Gate was 4,302 tickets sold at Dignity Health Sports Park and a source said the pay-per-view sales were approximately 20,000. https://sports.yahoo.com/regis-prog...ment-after-fight-check-bounced-000412996.html Man the promotion lost their asses of on this event.
I don't understand where they find these promoters that are so dumb? First of all they overpaid on the purse more than two times everyone else. Secondly neither of these guys can draw. Finally if you are a promoter why do you want to lose money? This sport just does not make sense paying Fighters much more than they generate in ticket sales and pay-per-view events.
