Troy Williamson vs. Josh Kelly & Lyndon Arthur vs. Joel McIntyre RBR.

Great scrap so far. Williamson so full of industry but struggling with the athletic ability and distance control and understanding of Kelly. Very cerebral battle here.

 

Good finish to the round by Willliamson but still gave it to Kelly

40-36 Kelly

Closest round of the fight so far. Kelly carrying on on the back foot, pinging single shots out. Troy didn’t land anything of note until a strong right hand shifted him back. Is Kelly starting to tire?

 

It was mental with Price after suffering a few defeats to drug cheats. Adrenaline drop I think. Kelly looks to feel mentally he is levels above Troy here.

 

I really hope Channel 5 gets good ratings for this excellent fight. A pleasure to watch.

 

Round 5: 10-9 Kelly

A clear Kelly round. Williamson hurt at one stage but Kelly is working hard here to effect and try and shift Williamson. Kelly doesn’t want to be emptying the tank yet though but if the plan is for him to start taking rounds off now he has some in the bank that could work.

 

Great fight this.

 

Kelly looking so confident. No nervous energy being burned up. Joy to see for him. Troy starting to look frustrated. Gutted for him and his story of coming up from small hall shows but up to now it really has been about levels.

 

I think some of it was but I just don't think he could fight at a decent pace when shipping shots. For me Kelly is the same, if the pace is decent and he's shipping shots I just don't think he can keep up.

This pace is suiting him at the moment.

 

Williamson needs to throw some feints and double jabs

 

He did good enough over the amateurs but it was a different sport back then. Honestly I think the nervous energy/adrenaline dump/desire to get out soon rather than trusting boxing drains the tank. I mean vs Allen was a masterclass at it's level when he was confident so I think it's an intriguing career to study.

Kelly is taking lesser shots just needs to have self belief enough to avoid adrenaline dump in my opinion.

 

Surprisingly easy for Kelly.
