Joyce is being billed as the next big thing, an unstoppable juggernaut. Fact: He's nearly 40 and already been KO'ed.

Tyson was just in the most expensive ppv on these shores ever against someone he beat twice already a decade ago. And that man had TWELVE losses going into Saturdays farce. And when hes not donating to his mates pension it's "tune ups" against nobodies or AJ's leftovers on these shores.

Yarde just fought another nobody last week. Nothing new there.

We are getting sold dreams. No young stars here like there is in the states, and the ones that you think will be big just arent reaching the casuals like they should. Things are going backwards!

I know we all have a pop at him but in all honesty, Hearn needs Sky but Sky also need Hearn. Match made in heaven. The country's best and biggest platform matched with the country's best salesman.

The sport as a whole is ****ing grim right now. There’s just a handful of fighters maintaining my interest, most of the rest are hyped up bluffers.

Nothing has changed. Hearn was just better at selling turds.

Try and convince myself it's still good but it's absolutely shite. No fights getting made and influencers taking over. Why we haven't had Wilder v Joshua, Fury v Joshua, Spence v Crawford, Tank vs anyone etc is losing boxing it's credibility.

Boxing always goes in these peaks and troughs but even at the best of times there just isn't enough talent to spread across Sky, BT and DAZN.

Perhaps, but that increased the visibility and ultimately, the public's spending on boxing and everyone in the sport would benefit eventually. A downturn means fewer, lower-paid shows in the end.

Sticking a show on at 1.30pm because there's football on, kind of sums up the decline just now.

Well like the OP said the British public have just massively bought in to a shiny turd. Maybe things aren't that bad?
Hearn hasn't brought his supposed genius to DAZN. Perhaps boxing is just trending downwards?
The British boxing boom of the 2010s was a perfect storm. No one facet was solely responsible. Not Hearn, not Sky, not Joshua. Everything came together perfectly and dovetailed. That wasn't going to continue indefinitely.

Matchroom always need a proportionately-sized dance partner since day 1.

Snooker needed the BBC and particularly BBC2. Boxing needed ITV and its Saturday night budget. Fishing, darts and pool needed Sky with empty channels to fill. Boxing needed Sky's platform both for reach and budget, and quiet Saturday night cards to build up the stable.

The other thing to add is, Matchroom has never really faced a strong mainstream rival for any of its sports as they grew. Hearn has gone into DAZN just as BT got lucky with Fury and invested in Queensberry, and Sky decided to stay in boxing at a good level. Whatever Hearn says, the competition in the UK is equal or better than that he always faced in the US and he's not currently rising above it.

Barry has said in the past that Sky gave Matchroom its big exclusivity deal because both sides were the only show in town able to grow the sport; that's not true any more.
