Why did Fury shake Usyk's hand

Aside from it not being his style at all, people actually expect Usyk to get into a trash talking battle of wits with Fury in a language he can barely speak in front of 60, 000 rowdy Fury fans? No native English speaking opponent of Fury's can get the better of him in that regard, let alone one who speaks very little English. Usyk will fire back in his own way at the pre-fight press conferences and as hard as Fury tries to intimidate him and get in his head it will just be like water off a duck's back to Usyk.

Usyk peered into Fury's soul at the head to head and all Fury saw in his eyes was unshakable self-belief. Fury must've been thinking to himself why can't I detect the merest trace of fear in this guy's eyes? He's half my size and I'm way bigger, heavier, longer and more powerful than him and he's in my domain in front of 60,000 of my troops and he's not remotely ruffled or intimidated by any of it. This cat must be even crazier than I am.

That was only round 1, we have at least 2-3 months of antics to go.

    Buckle in boys :p

I think the pre-fight press conferences will be entertaining as Usyk is a lunatic too

British mentality isn't it, its how we all grew up, us brits will take the **** out of anything we can grab onto, it's nothing less than bully behaviour every brit learnt in the school yard when you think about it, I suppose.

Usyk won the exchange without saying a word.

And the handshake shows that much of what you hear pre-fight is just hype.

No, he doesn't. He isn't and never was the trash-talking type. He doesn't need it - he isn't about intimidation and he isn't intimidated himself. Most fighters need to act and talk like that, and few fighters don't - Usyk is in the latter category. Even when Huck shoved him and tried to insult him in Russian, he said and did nothing. He let his boxing do the talking in the ring the next day.

Fury knows he won't get to Usyk with sweet talk so don't over analyse it and say "omg Usyk won the face off" like grow up lol.

Fury already did his job unsettling Usyk's promotion team by trying to negotiate with AJ and using Joyce as an insurance play piece.

Hence why Fury was also goading Usyk's promoter. It's Fury's game and everyone is merely invited guests.

Usyk is known for joking about his teeth, he isn't insecure about them at all.

It’s called working the mic and selling the fight. There is no real hate.

One of the many intriguing aspects of this fight is that it's between two unusually intelligent fighters. They'll sell the show fantastically over the next few months but when it's approaching I expect the mind games will be played for real. It should be interesting on every level.

Usyk & Fury is probably the highest IQ HW fight of all time...between two men who are physical opposites. Fury will always hold an extra card because he can big man him. I don't think Usyk's high guard ring circling defence is enough to keep Fury off him IF Fury decides he wants to be on him.

It could be any kind of fight given Fury's versatility. In my opinion he's best served by big manning him but he might well think differently.

Hopefully Usyk drops him heavy in round 1 and Tyson turns into Fury and we get a war of attrition.

Nah, Just like Wilder didn't win it when he chose not to speak. What happened to Usyk's wittiness? He should have at least trolled Fury with a drinking motion. We are all competitive here, and which of us would not say anything or post back is some poster called us a *****.
