To those saying Burns I say his name is still being mentioned over 60 years after his death because he was a champion If you were honest with the grand kids comparing yourself to Tom you’d blush in shame you ****ing donkeys bet none of you have been in the ring have you? Pro that is no tap tap sparring with your coach after fitness class ladies AHAHAHA
Louis vs Braddock is what I immediately thought of Joe Brown beating Bud Smith Reggie Johnson KOing William Guthrie
And you’re a chump no one will remember when you’re gone in about two generations unless you nut up, Burns the honourable will be with us forever. I bet his corpse has more testosterone in it then you you estrogen filled coward hiding behind your keyboard bag mouthing a dead man out of a place of submission and womanly hysteria So listen up BOY men respect the business they support.
I don't say Louis - Braddock. I think Braddock is way underrated. Very crafty and solid fighter. He managed to outbox Baer and also survive his vicious attacks for 15 rounds, which Schmeling was unable to to. So for HW: Tyson - Berbick Ali - Spinks 2 Tyson - Seldon Holyfield - Ruiz (title was vacent) RJJ - Ruiz I think all of them guys are worse than Braddock. Maybe Berbick is equal. Not skill wise but do to his unconventional style and high workrate.
I will go with Muhammad Ali taking the title back from Leon Spinks. I admit it is a close call, though.
You beat me to it with Greb/Wilson. Johnny did some ducking of Greb that would've made Errol Spence proud.
Y'know, something about the title to this thread just sort of sticks in my craw. I really hate to say 'the worst' when these guys were climbing into a pro ring to earn a living. Maybe we should refer to it as 'non-descript' champs who really never covered themselves in glory. I suppose I can deal with that a little better. With that awkward title I would say Freddie Steele v Babe Risko and John Henry Lewis against Bob Olin.
Leon Spinks beating an over the hill Ali to become champ, and then losing to an even more over the hill Ali Tyson vs Sheldon?
No offence meant against any of the losing title holders here, St. As you say, any guy in the ring deserves respect.
The correct answer is Terry Norris vs Luis Santana. Terry isn't quite ATG, but he is in the HOF and I think Santana qualifies as being a "lesser fighter" more than Braddock, who had some decent wins on his run to the title. Definitely more than Burns, who registered a good win over Hart to win the title and a better win over O'Brien to defend it.
