Thanks I am well. If Rocky thinks Tunney will tire like his most famous opponents did and exchange with him often he is for a surprise. Tunney's stamina and ability to go on such as in first Greb fight, a brutal 15 round match where Tunney's face was a mess confirmed by newspapers the Greb butted him in round one ( his corner also says this ) and lost a ton of blood was one of the rings finest executions os stamina and guts vs a very fast and skilled no quarter Harry Greb. Didn't you see it :)

More than likely Tunney boxes the slower footed and limited reach 67" or 68" Marciano ( vs Tunney superior 76" reach, footspeed and Smarts ) keeping him at the ideal distance for the duration of the fight.

Interesting scenario , and one that is very plausible, re the Greb fight, in the break between the 12 and 13th, Tunney's cornermen saw fit to mix rum with the orange juice that Gene had been ingesting between the late rounds, the effect was to make Tunney feel sick and giddy , said Gene after the fight " coming out for the next round I felt sick and nauseous, my head was spinning, then I started to see 2 Grebs, I mean 1 Greb was more than enough, to see 2 was madness " says it all really.
    chat soon amigo.

Rocky struggled with the similar Lastarza, but then battered and broke him down in the rematch. He struggled with the quick and sharp Walcott but eventually managed to catch up to him late. The rematch was a massacre. You can also look at the Charles fights where the first one was fairly close and competitive but Rocky, once again, made adjustments and it was a lot more decisive in the return bout.

Point being, Rocky was fairly good at making adjustments, learning from his mistakes, and adapting to the quick, cagey technical type.of boxers. Tunney wasn't some gigantic modern sized mover like Joseph Parker, he was arguably even smaller than Rocky and would have to run like hell to maintain his preferred distance. I think it's honestly a bad matchup. If this were the younger, less experienced Rocky I could see Tunney managing to outpoint him, but peak Rocky has dealt with boxers arguably just as good (if not better) than Tunney.

I am going with Rocky Marciano in this one, by decision or late stoppage. The pressure would win the day for him.

Tunney has everything in the tool box to beat Rocky, as I see it the only question is can he survive a grueling 15 round fight. I think Gene would find Rocky to be very easy to hit on the way in so Marciano would have to endure a lot of punishment . If I picked Marciano it would be with no confidence at all.

I saw Tunney as a analytical boxer, studying what was needed to defeat a opponent.

I am of the view that Tunney was tough enough, certainly skilled enough and with good enough gas tank to beat Marciano, though I sure would not bet my house on the outcome.

Yes he went down against Dempsey but he got up, now those extra seconds to recover might have influenced the outcome, Tunney of course stated he thinks he could have got up without need of them, but this also shows that he was still aware enough to stay down and take the long count.

Both retired as champion of the world with their brain cells intact, so both are winners in that regard.

I have seen him vs. Dempsey 2x, Gibbons, Heeney, Carpentier, and Jameson. Also in sparring vs Corbett and others. I've seen what's out there on him. Have you seen anything I did not mention?

When somebody says they have ,"seen," Tunney versus various opponents what do they actually mean, they have seen a few seconds worth of clips ?
Where can we see the complete films of Tunney versus Heeney,Carpentier,Gibbons?

Reznick ,a fine poster here, and one who makes excellent video compilations put this Tunney footage together.

Hmm? Tunney was a very fleet footed fighter who had great movement . If Rocky can't corner him he gets his face busted up.

Greb-Tunney 1. THE fight we'd ALL like to see. Tunney brutalized, carved up, Bolivianized.

Butted and fouled with a bleeding nose and face that started in round one yes. There is not film. From here on in Greb worked him over.

Tunney was a good boxer for his time but other great boxers (far more proven at Hw) tried and failed miserably to keep Marciano off of them. This is not a good match up for Marciano but I think he eventually gets to him as he got to every great to good boxer he met.
