Weight bullying isn't a thing and anyone who thinks it is is demented imo. Fighters are allowed a 24 hour weigh in period, that is a systematic issue, not an individual fighter issue.
If this loophole you accuse Haney of using is so advantageous to him, then why are not all fighters at the top level doing exactly what Haney is alleged by you as doing? If you watch any weigh in, most boxers hydrate after coming off the scales, are they cheating/exploiting a loophole?
Except Inoue is a skinny dude and he's never towered over and looked 20 pounds bigger than his opponent. And he doesn't come to the weigh in looking like Skeletor like Haney does.
Saying there's no such thing as weight grifting is like saying there's no such thing as doping... it clearly happens , it is clearly something people exploit.. don't tell me that rehydrating to 10/15lbs more than your opponent (in ring weight.. numerous examples of it..) isn't advantageous... same day weigh-ins would stamp it out..
March 12th-April 3rd. All the conference tournaments take place right before it, so yeah, it kills a whole month. A month of boredom.
Have the fighters weigh in every day the week preceding the fight. That would get rid of crazy weight cutting.
Imagine if he did? Even scarier. Not bashing Inoue at all. Just don't understand bashing a guy that is making weight legitimately.
Amen, brother. Why, what he did to Joey Gamache is still one of the most morally disgusting things I've ever seen in boxing and it's why Haney will always be remembered on this forum so negatively as a person and with no sentimentality or overrating. Nobody will be calling him a HOF'er, that's for sure.
He is now, though there was no mention of it previously, so must have been a new convert after his father going in that direction.
Well, after he beat Kambosos the first time he yelled in the ring after the fight "Allahu Akbar" and I'm pretty sure he wasn't called out for Jesus.
It's very bad for your health to deny yourself water. These kids are going to suffer later in life when theie kidneys disintegrate.
I think if you make the weight you make the weight but I did speak with some people close to Kambosos and they said George couldn't believe how not only Haney but also Lopez was so massive in the ring on fight night. They reckon the Americans are the best at cutting the most weight and rehydrating.
I largely agree with this. The size advantage of huge weight drainers is offset by being weakened by the huge weight cut. The same rules apply to all fighters, so each* will attempt to strike what they believe is the optimum balance between size at the weight vs how weakened they are from the cut. *the rare exceptions being fighters who are so good, they can succeed at world level in a division higher than one they'd comfortably be able to make, in order to secure the biggest fights. E.g. Usyk at HW, Lomachenko at LW, Mayweather at LMW vs De La Hoya, Whittaker at WW, Pacquiao at WW, etc.
Very much so, it is scary to see the blood screen results of a dehydrated person, the body and its physiology reacts badly to poor hydration. If that dehydration is repeated you are truly messing with long term health.
