I think Matchroom's true feelings about him came out when he informed them of the offer made by BOXXER.

They didn't like the fact that he went out and got another offer. They felt like he is indebted to them for putting up with his awful ugly style of boxing and his lack of popularity and fan appeal. Obviously it angered them that he went to Boxxer to try and force them to pay more.

I feel for Okolie a little bit. I've never liked the guy, he comes across as a prat in and out of the ring, however if someone is offering more money, why make it extremely difficult for him to leave.

Now its out in the open, how Matchroom really behave when things don't go their way.

Matchroom are scum mate. Look how they behaved with Benn (vs Eubank), with Kelly (vs Avanesyan), with Whyte (vs Rivas) and that's just a few instances in recent years. No surprise with Hearn in charge who'd sell his own gran to make a quick few quid.

Yeah I know what your saying and at the end of the day as a fighter you have to look after #1

From the promoter side of it, you can see how he's pissed them off. They've invested in him, guided him to a world title, took financial losses and taken stick when he's stunk the place out (numerous times) ..... and now when it gets to the point of his career when big money generating fights could be on the horizon he ****s off lol

If my business was losing loads of money on someone, and that someone voluntary wanted to go elsewhere, I would be delighted.

So either Eddie is a shite businessman or he's lying through his teeth.

This is not new in sport. Football clubs have been known to relegate star players to the youth team for similar. They know it decreases the value of their investment, but it's about sending a message.

For Matchroom, it won't just be about Okolie, but about the next fighter, and the next after that.

But it does go against the image Matchroom have carved out over the years about how they're for the fighter, we work for them, everyone is happy, no one leaves us because we look after our fighters.

Matchroom haven't really had to deal with boxers leaving them. They used to take boxers from other promoters but now that they're not the only show in town, you'll find everything isn't always so rosy at Matchroom and they too behave just like any other promotional company which is normal but their facade about how they're just a family run company trying to do it's best for its fighters only rings true when they see value in you. If not, you will easily be tossed aside.

Sure, but that facade fell some time ago for Matchroom. Take Michael Hunter for example. They basically decimated his career after he drew with Povetkin. First they dropped him, then they started messing with his title eliminators by manipulating the purse bids against him.

I've met him twice on a night out. Both times he's been up for a chat and took photos with me and my mates (quite sad, I know but we were all very drunk lol). He even insisted on moving outside the room we were in to take better pics as the lighting was bad.

I have heard from good sources that Boxxer / Sky Sports will triple Okolie's purse per fight.

Eddie Hearn / Matchroom don't care about boxers health. They only care about making as much money as possible for themselves.

The picture we have seen during 2022 where boxers have left Matchroom in favor of Boxxer / Sky Sports will continue in 2023. Eddie Hearn's time as a big boxing promoter here in the U.K. is definitely over.

Have always been on the fence with Eddie hearn,it's very easy to be likeable when everything is going well, early days of joshua, froch groves selling out Wembley, but when things aren't going well that's when somebodies true character reveals itself

I'm convinced Eddie thinks he's going to be another Dana White when he's really turning into a poor man's Vince McMahon. Travelling circus of low-talent, high-hype performers playing to inflated crowds with regular pay-per-views propping up the model whilst he expands into new territories. The parallels are pretty clear.

Meanwhile Warren and old Bob are the NWA sticking to their roots in boxing with the real world champion, propped up by a good TV deal but just as likely to go bust :)
