Please... Is Lamotta overrated, is Marciano overrated, is Holmes overrated, is Grab overrated, is Bugner overrated, is Liston overrated, is Cleveland Williams overrated, is Ali overrated, is Burley overrated, seems to me every 10th post is about who is overrated, is this what it's come to, seems the forum is fixated on, who or isn't or is overrated, there is more to this forum than this isn't there, or am I being a bore. both barrels please. stay safe fellow posters.
Just the mention of weight disparities and how they play into legacy made me immediately think of LaMotta, whose entire career is built on beating welterweights while he was often coming in over the middleweight limit, thus actually a light heavyweight.
I think calling out threads about fighters being overrated as overrated is overrated. We could build a ladder to heaven based on this simple premise.
As Jack Dempsey said "I was a pretty good fighter. But it was the writers who made me great." As a pro i say Audley Harrison was overrated, he got a cool million pound contract from the BBC for his first 10 pro fights, money well spent..NOT.
Always wondered why they called themselves that. The originally thought up name, Led Dirigible, was far more catchy - if they’d ran with that they might’ve actually made it big as a rock band, oh well, at least they enjoyed moderate success. Now this tune should’ve hit # 1 and stayed there for months on end. Boys and girls, listen up and take note, no autotune, no scantily clad women etc, this IS music:- This content is protected
Nah Mike, you’re never a bore. Part of the problem also is actually quantifying the general perception of boxer X (not just our own perception) to determine what that perception equates to as a broadly accepted rating - and that’s BEFORE we can even start arguing over whether the “deemed” rating we’ve agreed upon (highly unlikely that we could all even agree on that) is fair or not. Lol. I’ll play it safe and nominate Rocky Marciano as the most overrated British Fighter though he did prove to be better than Don Cockell.
In all honesty, I think Bruce Woodcock got more ink written about him than some world champions. On that basis, based on not becoming a champion, he has to rank high. The guy was an A-lister. He stopped traffic in London. And he was from Doncaster.
your act of bashing LaMotta and Pep every chance you get is getting ****ing old dude ... move along they dont know, but I do
