Jones wouldn’t fill a soccer stadium without going to Europe. Big paydays he missed out on there. Benn, Eubank, Colllins. He passed on all of them. Hurt his legacy right there. He only fought Calzaghe because he was willing to fight in USA.

This was not the case with Ali or Ray Robinson.

Fury, and by a Country Mile...

loads of fighters are Overated, Owned and Hyped by the equally owned Boxing Media...

it's a Business sadly, and great Dangerous fighters certainly can't get in the way of heavily Invested Private Property.

I was around BEFORE then. so I think you are the one who is utterly clueless.

do you have an explanation for why Jones vs Dariusz Michalczewski also didn’t happen?

quite a gap in Jones legacy if you ask me. No Colins. No Eubank. No Benn. No Ottke. no Beyer. No michalczewski.

Well it pains me to say it but it has to be good old ‘Enery especially in the UK.
While you have to give him credit for downing Ali which was no mean feat every time Henry stepped up he got knocked out.
Just the other day when reporting on the fact they’ve erected a statue of Henry in his home manor in London, the BBC newsreader described him as “Britains greatest ever boxer”
    Now that’s overrating!

Joe only fought Eubank. And Chris was done by then. Roy didn't need to travel. He'd already schooled Toney and Hopkins whilst Joe was playing slaps with Tocker Pudwill.

Jones vs Dariusz didn't happen because Jones was afraid of the judges and referee in Germany, same reason Ottke vs Calzaghe didn't happen

Yeah I think Coopers legacy is of being famous for bravery representing the UK against Muhammad Ali in Wembley. A one man football team coming second in the national stadium. I don’t think it had as much to do with his actual legacy of having the record for being British champion as long as he was.

This is true. And I was at that mismatch against Pudwill. But while Jones was was the best at that time..how can people knock who Calzaghe didn’t fight while giving Jones such a pass?

Calzaghe never fought any one as good as James Toney

Yeah that was the reason. But I still think a legacy suffers. On both sides. Calzaghe did go to America to face Jones and Hopkins though. If people decide a record is enhanced because those guys were older then it works both ways. Guys were unwilling to go to Europe.

Agreed. So why didn’t he take on Collins or Eubank or Calzaghe?

we can agree that he didn’t need them. But the legacy suffers on both sides.

There was talk of a Jones v Collins fight but for whatever reason it never came off,i don`t believe for a second Roy was scared of him.He did of coarse fight Calzaghe when he was way past his best.As for Eubank he never wanted any part of Roy
