Who's The Worst Possible Match Up, For Vitali Klitschko?

Lennox Lewis certainly wasn't a good one!!!

I think numerous ATG's beat him, and some non ATG's as well.

Ali would be terrible and Holmes would be bad as well. Foreman would slug him out of there. Could he beat an industrious Holyfield? Bowe? Tyson?

Usyk might be favored too and i'd take Fury for sure.

Worst beside Lewis i'd go Ali. There's lots he'd struggle with tho.

I might be a bit sarcastic and say Lennox Lewis would probably have given him some trouble.

 

If I’m only supposed to pick ONE then I’ll say prime Lewis. And to be clear, “ prime Lewis “ was NOT the version who fought Vitali in 2003.

 

Ali is his worst match up imo. Vital would give Ali problems . But I think Ali would out point him.

 

Around 1997 - 1998was for me his prime.

Yeah he'd go alright. So much more skilled.

Not to forget the Cleaver either.

 

Vitali has become a bit overated head to head. I would picke the likes of Fury, Lewis, Holmes, Ali , Foreman, Bowe or even Holyfield to win. All prime versions of course

 

What Lewis brought to the table Bowe brings and more so obviously Bowe batters him.

Fury is one guy who makes Vitali look very bafoonish.

Holyfield counters him to death with right hands over the top

 

Maybe. But Ali lost 5 times and won at least two matches he should not have ( Young and Norton 3 ) and some would say has a questionable stoppage match where he was down on points mid way though the fight.( Lyle ) This is 5 losses under 34 for Ali, not couting the fights past 1977.

Having said that he's a very good pick. If Ali felt that he could not beat Kenny Norton ( he sure could not hurt him ), he is in for a tough match. Could he deal with Vitali's jab, size, work rate, power, and smarts? Unknown. Ali would have the speed edge for sure.

This much is clear, Vitali is too smart to be rope-a-doped and I say doesn't allow a 215 pound guy to out get the better of him in the cliches.

I think Holmes might be a tougher match up because he has a better jab and doesn't take as many breaks in the ring.

 

That's nice dear but Norton has nothing do with Ali vs Vitali.
A better comparison is Joe Bugner. That's exactly what the fight with Vitali would look like.

 

Vitali's lack of good rhythm & his rather unimaginative boxing sees him getting out-boxed by just about any ATG that I can think of.

Vitali was big & tough, dedicated & always in great shape. That's not enough against most great HWs of the past, and yes that includes little guys like Frazier, Marciano, Charles, Walcott, etc.

 

His weird rhythm is part of what made him difficult. He was never down on the cards in fights that went past 2 rounds. On the other hand, the group of cruiserweights you mentioned never had to beat a huge guy who boxed well at distance.

 

Ali would have the best chance to outpoint him. Lewis would only be a slight underdog.

I will take some odd ones after this.

The best chance is for someone that can get in and out quickly and hit like a mule. Tyson and Dempsey might shake him - with Dempsey having the best chance.

Tyson can be tied up and wears down after 6 rounds. Dempsey only slightly better .

Vitali is H2H king for a reason. Tough out for anyone.

 

Disagree, his rhythm was simplistic & repetitive and would be figured out quickly by any great HW and also a bunch of LHWs I can think of. What made Vitali difficult was his size & volume punching.
