That's what Eddie claims doesn't he, that the money is coming from a mystery third party (not K4 Global). The bulk of his money is from the Sky TV budget he was given in the 4 year deal, claims that he is paying over the odds for fighters and dishing out 7 figure purses to female undercard fighters are completely unverified and merely a smoke screen to cover up fighters leaving Matchroom for Sky.

There were several boxers who were overpaid by Eddie Hearn / DAZN when Matchroom USA launched.

I understand why DAZN has reduced Matchroom's budget. Eddie Hearn wasted too much money.

He probably doesn't want to write cheques his promotional ability and stable can't cash yet.

He's being wise to not go head to head with Frank and Eddie on any matters.

He needs them to just think of him as the special needs boy who is getting a big helping hand from mummy and daddy with his new shiny company.

Is that not Eddie Hearn and to some degree George and Francis? Is there any evidence his mum and dad are mega rich?

I agree he has been shrewd by not engaging though.

Yep, you're right. They've all had a helping hand.

Maybe swap mummy and dad for investors though. Who cares if he's got investors though. He's probably had to give up some of his shares.

Not hard to take it to court and play it out. Would have been quicker than messing about.

could also have fought in Saudi in August and been free of any dispute 5 months ago

His dad has a few quid and he has family property. But he’s well connected in certain circles of his community to people that have a lot of cash.

A few houses here and there are not going to give you enough money to take on DAZN are they. What circles are you talking about that he is well connected in, who are these people with 'lots of cash'?

Going to court is rarely quick and never easy. I think it's obvious why he has not (yet) chosen to go down that route. You do that as a last resort. I'm a little surprised your taking that angle as I think it's quite clear as a independent fighter, who has done well but let's face it has not got a fraction of the resources or money of Machroom he would not want to go to court against Matchroom, without first exhausting all other options.

He has received legal advice saying his contract has infact expired, and he has no fights left- rightly or wrongly none of us can say. He also claims Matchroom confirmed in writing his contract was over and this only started when they saw Boxxer's offer and realized they are losing him to Boxxer/Sky. Machroom clearly dispute this but then just saying oh well Lawrence should take them to court is another thing altogether.

With the sort of money Matchroom have they could drag out a legal process, keep Lawrence out of the ring for another 18 months and ruin his career just to make an example of him. I don't put that has Eddie Hearn for one second.

I do agree with you on the final fight though, if Lawrence genuinely had the option of fighting in August and being done with all this he 100% should have just done it to avoid all this mess, regardless of what he believed. Would have been the best option for all sides. If he was given that option, very strange he did not take it.

He was and for a joint career high payday. But it was for only half what boxxer offered. Hence why he didn’t want to do it.

I get it but if you are right contractually eventually you win in court and factor loss of earnings into the process. The fact is he has a fight and didn’t want to do it after realising he’s contractually tied up.

Smacks to myself as insecurity on Hearns side.

What Hearn did upon his arrival as the new kid on the block - hoovering up the talent - is now happening to himself... and he doesn't like it.

Everything is cyclical, Hearn needs to embrace and accept this fact.

All the "Bitter" type jibes he used to throw at Frank, and he has turned into the most bitter of the lot.

When he talks about competition but has to do it in a snide patronising way “they’re not on the same level as us but it’s good that Sky/BT are still putting shows on” ... the biggest UK events of 2022 were on Sky and BT. Fact.

Hearn is the most bitter of them all now.
