Come on now, this hero-worshipping and turning every conversation into an opportunity to talk about Fury is so boring.

It's easy to dominate if you get knocked down by either such journeymen as Pajkic and Cunningham or by a flat-footed one-trick pony who shouldn't even knock you down in the first place. Even Wilder is literally nothing else but a big right hand with terrible technique, poor balance, poor coordination and at best average foot speed with abysmal footwork in general.

Tyson was first knocked down by Buster Douglas who, in comparison to these three fighters who knocked Fury down, was an ATG and a proper boxer.

Ok so you'd prefer this thread to go:

    Has Mike Tyson ever...

    Answer: No

    And that's it?

There is clear connection between Mike Tyson & Tyson Fury. When Mike Tyson peaked in 1988 Ares looked down and said my creation is good but not good enough and hence Tyson Fury was born.

Roy had very little adversity to deal with until he was past his prime. He was legitimately dropped by Lou Del Valle and got up to win that. Only other time I can remember a prime RJJ having any problems was the first Montell Griffin fight. He lost his cool and was DQ'd in that one, so I guess he didn't deal with it well there. A weight-drained RJJ did manage to finish strong and pull out a win against Tarver in the first fight.

Agreed. Only instance I can think of where he overcame early trouble in a fight was MAYBE against Tucker. Mike probably lost 2 of the first 3 rounds, then won pretty much the next 9 IIRC, although I'm not sure if that had more to do with Tyson making adjustments or Tucker taking his foot off the gas. Tucker claimed after the fight the he hurt his hand in the early rounds.....

This is such a myth though. Tyson wasn't in any worse shape than he was against Williams which was his previous bout. Tyson himself said in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel that he hadn't been allowed to leave his hotel room apart from training. So it's just urban legend that he partied and boozed hard during the camp and wasn't prepared properly as a result.

On the other hand, everything that could go wrong for Buster did go wrong. Not only he was a 42-to-1 underdog but he lost his mother some three weeks before the fight. He and his mother were extremely close - in the nicest sense of the expression, Buster was a true mama's boy. His mother was literally his best friend and he was absolutely devastated when she passed away. Also, on the week of the fight, he had flu and was full of antibiotics. Also also, his wife, Bertha was seriously ill at that time. If memory serves, she was in hospital during the week of the fight. So to say that Buster was not in an ideal place both mentally and physically for fighting any kind of fight, let alone an undisputed title fight against The Baddest Man on the Planet, is the understatement of the century.

Still, he beat up a healthy, prime Tyson. Not only defeated him but beat him up, no two ways about it. Tyson won what, maybe two rounds, because Buster executed a perfect game plan against him. Say whatever you want about Douglas' career overall but that whole fight and KO against Mike was as legit as they come.

If Tyson went to the canvas he was messed up badly and probably couldn't get up too well

Yes, against opposition Iron Mike would have flattened in the first round. These doofy ass giants wouldn't have made it through the top 10 in the 90s

Yeah but Lewis rematched everybody and beat everybody he faced.
Nice cheap shot at Lewis though.
