Louis- Hit very hard pound for pound.
Max Baer might have punched harder.

Patterson- Its a complete joke to have him on this list and not Sonny Liston…
    Even Johansson hit harder.
In a list of fastest Heavy’s, then maybe.

Charles- Actually hit pretty hard at Middle and Light Heavy.
Supposedly, didn’t have the same killer instinct after killing 21 year old Sam Baroudi in the ring.
This was the only time Baroudi was stopped in a fight…

Rocky- Just my opinion but I think he was overrated and gained his reputation beating older men…
    Hit hard pound for pound.
Probably would have stopped most men with the punch he hit Jersey Joe with…
Would have loved to see him hitting Tex Cobb with the same punch to see what would happen.

Wlad- Hit very hard until losing and becoming timid.

Holmes- Another joke to have on this list…
If this was a list of best jabs then for sure he’s on it.
Shavers hit much harder, as did Cooney.

    Tunney- Another Joke…
If this was a list of most handsome Heavy’s, then Tunney is up there…
    Dempsey hit much harder.

Foreman- Had thudding power rather than concussive.
    Looked like every punch hurt.

Tyson- His speed and variety of power punches was impressive.

Vitali- His record indicates he could certainly punch but I think he might not even be the hardest puncher in his family, never mind the world…

Don't know if you did physics at school but how hard you hit something does not depend on what you are hitting.

Well George Foreman said Ron Lyle and Gerry Cooney were the two hardest hitting that he ever faced but he also said he's glad he never fought Shavers.

As mentioned already Foreman was a wrecking machine who himself said Lyle and Cooney were the hardest punchers he ever fought. When Holyfield fought Foreman in 1991,Foreman was 42 years old iirc and Holyfield said after the fight that he had been hit with a shot off Foreman and honestly thought all his front teeth where knocked out .

    Prolly Foreman.

Shavers iced people but at the very, very highest level, his power betrayed him.

Wilder's highest level ko was Luis Ortiz

Wlad is up there but I've never seen him as "the hardest" hitter ever.

Tua has to be considered up there as well.

Marciano has the highest KO rations in Championship bouts....100%.
Wilder is second with 89% but has an overall higher KO ratio.

It's a frivolous topic if Wilder and Shavers don't compete.

Wlad gave his best shots to Ross Puritty but couldn't hurt him a bit. So, it's not Wlad.

    It's probably Iron Tyson.

From this list, it has to be George but I still reckon Earnie Shavers is the hardest one punch hitter I've seen in my 55 years.

Hitting butter is the same as hitting steel? Ok, maybe hitting Amir Khan's chin is like butter...true.

I still think for one punch power it is Wilder, if it lands then opponent goes down like they have been shot.

But hey if Foreman, Shavers, Wlad, Marciano or any of that ilk explode a punch off your mandible, they are going to spoil your day somewhat, AKA they all hit bloody hard.

Marciano KOd every opponent he had in title fights but 1 of his title fights went the distance out of 7. So more like 86%
