Joe Frazier. Do You Believe He Could Have Beaten Other ATG s...

Very few guys would have beaten that Frazier.
Some superb sluggers, at least that greatly outsized him-so almost nobody from before the 1970's.

 

Could have. yes. Anyone in theory could beat anyone. Would he likely win vs the very best? His resume and who he fought does not suggest that. Frazier is best matched vs. men his size or smaller who don't have a lot of power. He eats those types up.

 

Would you concede that Marciano @ Liston could have beaten Frazier, say the Rock of the 1st Walcott, and almost any Liston circa 59/62.

 

Marciano & Frazier would be a superb fight.
Rocky greater variety of punches, 2 handed power, marginally better endurance since moved more economically. Although he tended to cut, maybe more than Frazier swelled. Both had incredible toughness & workrate.
Frazier a little bigger, but I would slightly favor him due to better speed & accuracy.

Liston due to ability + style advantage, yes I would favor him overall at his peak.

 

He probably beats most, if not all ATGs that came prior to his era, Liston being the exception.

 

In my opinion ?
Only 3 heavyweights in history would be clearly favored over him: george foreman, sonny liston, Muhammad ali ( at their absolute peaks of course).
And only 4 others have a chance at all to win (toss ups): lennox lewis, riddick Bowe, joe Louis and mike Tyson. (Again, all of them would have to be 100%. If they came in one iota less than their peaks........)

 

Tyson, Lewis, Bowe, Holyfield, Fury, the Klitschkos, Usyk - they all beat Frazier.

 

ATG's he would beat IMO.

Joe Louis = I think he beats Louis in 1 fight then Louis adjusts and beats him in a rematch.

Rocky Marciano = Two swarmers going at it who throw a ton of punches, but you have to favour the slightly larger Frazier in that kind of fight.

Sonny Liston = Bad style match up for Frazier remember Liston sparred and taught Foreman some tricks i think Liston stops Frazier.

Muhammad Ali = Prime Ali in the 60's wins a very close decision.

Larry Holmes = I think he stops Holmes late or wins a decision.

Mike Tyson = Tyson either blows him away early or Frazier weathers early storm and gets to Tyson late.

Evander Holyfield = Decision's Holyfield or possibly stops him depending how reckless Holyfield is.

Riddick Bowe = Tough one Riddick Bowe has a great uppercut for the shorter Frazier, but he fights too much on the inside and is far too hittable, but he does have size over Frazier aswell as the workrate to keep up with Frazier undecided on this one.

Lennox Lewis = Bad style for match up for Frazier i think Lewis stops him honestly.

 

Frazier beats quite a few all time greats, strangely Frazier is better suited to beat Ali than the men I'd favor over Frazier such as:
#1 Foreman, no explanation needed
#2 Liston , Joe cannot come to Sonny
# 3 Mike Tyson, I think Tyson is all wrong early for Joe
#4 Joe Louis, this might go the other way if Louis can't hurt Frazier and Joe begins to smoke mid fight
