    Martinez's middle weight career was ending as Canelo's was beginning.

    Age and bad knees let him down against Cotto.

    What if the two careers had lined up closer chronologically ?

    The Martinez who defeated Kelly Pavlik v the Canelo from GGG (1).

    How does this play out ?


    Edit:
    Given that Canelo often gets overly favourable treatment in the US, this fight will take place in the UK with judges from Canada, Germany and Japan. :biggrin:

    Hmm? I think this is a better fight than many might think and over 12 rounds I'd give Martinez a good chance to get a victory, oh wait if it goes to the cards he drops a split decision 118-110 ,114-113 and 112-116 .

    I can see Sergio winning 7 or 8 rounds but getting dropped a few times.

    Just an FYI, Martinez is actually still an active fighter. He's had five fights beginning in August 2020. The most recent fight was eight days ago.

    I think Canelo wins this but Martinez makes it very difficult for him.

    I have to fancy Canelo in this one. They're both explosive fighters but Canelo has a big edge in power and chin. Moreover he's the more technically correct fighter with a better drilled defence. I don't doubt Martinez would give him something to think about but I reckon ginger catches up with him sooner or later. He has a knack for figuring out awkward guys and timing them.

    It would be a good fight but I think Alvarez wins. He was simply better than Martinez

    True, but Martinez was faster, more athletic and had a better engine.

    First of all, what I asked was....
    " Does Canelo have a better ONE punch KO than Sergio's KO of Williams ? "

    Canelo over Kov was a TWO punch KO .

    Williams was KO'd by ONE punch.


    Second, Kov was KO'd, but he was conscious.
    Williams was KTFO...unconscious...in dreamland.


    Third, Kovalev was 36, shot and demoralized, had already been stopped, and was taking a cash-out fight
    Williams was 29, on his way up, and never before stopped.

    So no, the Kov KO was NOT a better ONE - PUNCH KO than the Williams KO.
