Among the all-time feather greats, do you have him in top 10? 5?

Lots of guys mess up their fw rankings. It’s easy to do. Hardest top ten to de-casual, takes years

Defo not top five. I say almost impossible to get him in the ten. I have him at number 15. Getting him higher would be difficult for me.

Probably rates higher at 130lbs, but even then I don't know if I'd say he's a lock for a top 10 spot , since a number of his junior lightweight title fights happened at featherweight. Either way, featherweight is deep and it's entirely acceptable to put him outside of one's top 10.

I have him #18 @ FW. I didnt factor his SFW title fights or any fights where either fighter weighed over 130lbs.

I had him at #20 in the 1930's Rummy's ranking by decade thread.

I find it really tricky to rate prewar champs. Most seem to have mind boggling records, Wiki says the Kid's was 136 wins, 10 losses and 6 draws, but apart from the biggest names I simply don't know enough about the rest of his competition. LaBarba, Bass, Canzoneri, Singer, Berg, Battalino, Klick are the names that jump out to me as a non-expert. He seems to have had a lot of close fights with the cream of his competition and also unlike many fighters kept up his winning ways until the end of his career. It is interesting he was champ in two newer "in-between" devisions of Super Feather and Light Welter.

Wiki says he was recognised as Ring featherweight champ but not sure if officialy recognised so was he ever a FW champion? I am also unclear if he tended to weigh lighter than the higher weights to fought at? Looks good on film to me and like he could mix it with many former champs around his weight class. Nice upright "English" boxer style. Also apart from KOs to Canzoneri and Klick seemed quite durable.

Any more info would be appreciated.

    Hi Buddy.
Neat post, nicely laid out, and for a " non-expert " you aint doing bad, btw there is no such thing as a expert on here ( yours truly included ) just a bunch of guys that have a love for the Noble Art, we come in all shapes and sizes, we are not all the same colour, we all don't share the same religion, but in the main, we try to get along, and swop anecdotes, knowledge, and humor, I am not a long standing member, but I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, in general the gang have given me a soft ride, as I am sure they will to you, you have hit the ground running, look forward to engaging with you for years to come.
PS - Not sure he was a Light Welter champ ;)
    stay safe amigo.

He was way better than Johnny Strawberry, Jose Vanela and Joe Carmel. (All real fighters btw.)

You can say he is an under rated guy and fought some of the best. He bottom level top 18-25 guy. About where I place him too.
