Nice payday for a Bantamweight. I wonder what the record purse is for Bantamweight?

Inoue isn't even in the Top 5 Most Popular Athletes in Japan.

    1. Shohei Ohtani
    2. Kazuyoshi Miura
    3. Rikako Ikee
    4. Kasumi Ishikawa
    5. Hiranu Ayumu

Thought I read someone on here say that Murata is more of a household name than he is.

Good that he's getting paid but it could have been higher for someone with his skills & discipline,

He is joint promoted by Top Rank correct? they should promote him more & try getting him a big fight overseas now as he needs the exposure while he's still young.

Yup. That was all happening and in the works. Arum brought Inoue over to fight on HBO on a Chocolatito undercard hoping to set that fight. Inoue-Trashmero was signed and set to take place most likely in Vegas, but then COVID happened.

Inoue fought Moloney and Parenas in the US and then COVID restrictions got even worse in Japan.

But yeah, Inoue said he's fighting at least once in the US this year.

Oh yeah that's where the arguments started with them as they were meant to fight originally, you made me remember.

According to this year's survey, Inoue is fourth.

    29.1% Shohei Otani (baseball)
    5.5% Yuzuru Hanyu (Figure skating)
    3.2% Ichiro (baseball)
    2.6% Naoya Inoue (boxing)
    2.2% Hideki Matsuyama (Golf)

My favourite Japanese sports person is that thicc rock climber bird from the Olympics.
