Liston's one of the best technical Heavies going. Louis is near perfect, Holyfield is solid and even a Jimmy Young showed plenty of prowess.
I think Louis has him covered in terms of form. Shorter punches, he isn’t squared up and actually has a component inside strategy and can counter and fight going forwards, backwards and everywhere between. He is a university text book on fundamental boxing he looks like a big Ricardo Lopez when he fights and to quote Tyson himself. “No one is invincible but Louis came the closest”
If you were teaching anyone to box only one of those guys is worth copying and he’s the only ATG in the bunch.
It is amazing. After all these years, nobody has come close to Joe Louis. I love his marble statue at Caesars Palace.
Best technique for what? Less you mean best textbook technique like textbook stance, jab, then cross, followed by left hook an so on? You can't compare techniques cos each boxer uses the best technique an style that's best for themselves. You can't expect Ali to use the same technique as Frazier or Tyson an vise versa. It won't work for them
Louis, Holyfield, Holmes - I look to guys who used skills that weren’t dependent on youth, speed or muscle that could extend a career into later years. Ali and Frazier didn’t age well. If Floyd Patterson were a choice, he’d be up there
