Boxing has seen many dirty fighters in it's rich history. First, there was George McFadden, who was known as an 'elbower-puncher'. Then there was Willie Pep whose fight with Sandy Saddler got so muddy that it turned out to be a three-way battle with the referee getting involved. Let us not forget Tony "two tons" Galento who lived up to every meaning of the word 'dirty' by gouging, thumbing, elbowing and even not bathing during his fights. Evander Holyfield made the best use of his bald head and may have served as an inspiration for Zinadine Zidane (Bernard Hopkins would continue this legacy), while Luis Suarez might have taken a leaf out of Mike Tyson's book when he bit Georgio Chiellini. Andrej Golota proved to be more than a match for Tyson as he not only bit his opponents but proved he could bust grapes. Wladimir 'Klinchko' openly exhibited his brotherly love towards his opponents by hugging them whenever provided with the opportunity. Abner Mares, Antonio Margarito, Henry Akinwande, Kabary Salem, Ad Wolgast, Mysterious Billy Smith, Luis Resto, Mustafa Hamsho, Fritzie Zivic... the list goes on and on and on.

So, who is the dirtiest fighter of all time, pound for pound?

One question ...... Why do you name Antonio Margarito as a dirty fighter? But please don't mention the ludicrous " loaded gloves" accusations that were proven to be BS & blatant lies.
I think the King of dirty fighters was Andre Ward. He did it all, Head butter extraordinaire. ball buster, octopus impersonator, there was no foul he did not use freely. He got away with it because he never fought outside his hometown with hometown officials

Ward never doctored his equipment. Margarito hands down dirtier than Ward to any objective person. That excludes you @C.J.

Neither did Antonio Margarito . No one concerned has been able to come right out & say he EVER did anything wrong. Ive tried them all the CSAC , the late Nazim Richardson, included & not one person can state categorically they can prove he did. In fact both Richardson ,with his ludicrous " PLASTER BLOCKS" claim & the CSAC INSP who watched the wrapping of Tony's hands passed & signed off on them then when this blew up claimed he saw a " white plaster like substance" smeared on the pad at the hearing where Tony requested his licence be restored to him Both were proven to be without merit when the pads were tested. in other words they did NOT EXIST. The CSAC refused to restore Tony's boxing licence in Ca because they "SUSPECTED" he'd tried to . They ruined his career & good name based on what turned out to be Just Lies!!!!
Now as for Panama Lewis & Resto, they deserved jail time & banning for life that was proven what they'd done.If it was proven true about Tony I'd have agreed the same punishment for him BUT IT WASN"T!!
One last thing You claim I'm not an objective person well if you class yourself as objective then I don't want be be classed like you. You believe unproven LIES!! I suppose you're a Ward fan ? That figures

By fairly common consensus, Fritzie Zivic was the dirtiest Fighter ever. As previously mentioned, Galento was also a nightmare. I reckon Gene Fullmer rates a mention too.

Apart from one fight ,in1901 against Jack Daly I cant find any other reference to McFadden using his elbows in a fight.
Pep was never dsq'd, and I believe it was only against Saddler was he guilty of foul tactics.
A better example would be Eusebio Pedroza.

I read the clever skilled Nel Tarelton liked to employ some of the sneaky craftier subleties of Boxing and you (Refs), had to watch him...

I'm sure he, and they, Dirty Fighters, were a plenty overall.

Agapito Sanchez revisiting his fight vs Pacquiao recently, one of the most foul filled fights i've seen.

I've always thought that Eusebio Pedroza was a master of foul tactics but I could never understand why he used those tactics because he was also a master boxer to me who didn't need to use dirty tricks.

Good call on Fullmer. Nice guy out of the ring but he was dirty and his manager Marv Jenson was underhanded as well. The last fight with Robinson an example.
Sugar Ray wanted a decent size ring so he put it in the contract. They brought the smallest ring you ever saw. Robinson demanded they measure it. Jensen gives him a tape measure that had part of it cut out in the middle. Ray didn't find out until later. Gene confirmed the story.

Tyson KD'd Golota in the first round, and Golota refused to come out in the third.

You're thinking of Rid (formerly Riddick) Bowe to whose family jewels Golota threw combos.
