No plan B? You're joking, right? Roy's style was so incredible, he didn't need no 'B', his style was A-Z lol!

He could do almost anything, whether it's punches from crazy angles, conventional boxing behind the jab, turning southpaw, going all-out super aggressive beast-mode (which was even rarer than conventional mode lol but he could do it), vicious KO inducing body puncher, you name it.

He used Ped's that much was proven, but because the sport is so corrupt he got away with it like Floyd & a few other "chosen ones" Just coming out with the tired old excuse " They are ALL doing it "doesn't work . Its time the state commissions were disbanded & a Global Commission was sat to run the sport. But there again its gotten so bad its almost impossible to find 3 honest judges to render legitimate scorecards or a commission that will run the sport honestly. Only answer I see is do what the WWF did when their credibility was threatened. change their name from World Wrestling Federation to World Wrestling Entertainment therefore making it no longer a real combat sport They could call Boxing, Boxing Exhibitions

Absolutely not. Some fighters are faster than others, when you’re already lightning fast (as Roy was his whole life) then what do you think steroids are going to do? The law of diminishing returns? People act as if steroids are magic. They’re good for building muscle and recovering from training sessions. They don’t make you an elite athlete lol

That picture is proof he definitely wasn’t imo. Look how underdeveloped his triceps and traps are compared to everything else - and that is where you see signs of anabolic use (that’s where you have the most receptors). Roy was a fast twitch guy with small bones and low body fat (and dark skin), that always makes guys look like bodybuilders.

It wasn't a point it was a question.

But if your asking what my opinion is, it's that to be the best takes more than just physical attributes, it takes a certain mentality. And those who proved to be the best in days gone by, would likely be the best in days yet been had they been given the same scientific advancements.

There are, of course, exceptions. Guys who don't have the mentality required, but won the genetic lottery and used their god given physical attributes to achieve success. Guys such as Young Griffo who was a barely functioning alcoholic yet was able to carve out an ATG career as a featherweight champion. But I personally believe its those guys who would struggle most in future times because mentality and training/nutrition allows people to close the gap and those who get by on ability alone can find themselves struggling, take Dele Alli atm as a prime example. He was statistically on course to be the greatest midfielder of all time and now he can't even hold a starting place at Besiktas.

Regarding this specific example, I don't know anything about Babe Ruth other than he's a famous baseballer. I couldn't even tell you if he's famous for pitching or putting. So my question was asking Brighton if he believed that had Babe been born tomorrow, would he have had what it took to get to the top level of the sport and be remembered as a great in 50 years time.

Time machine placements aren't a worthwhile comparison. Contextualised comparisons make more sense to me. For example, take the best baseballer today, and have him being born 100 years ago, would he still go on to be head and shoulders above the field of the day, or is his status today entirely reliant on sport advancements.

But to summarise, I have no point other than I don't know a lot about Babe Ruth.

He had an insane level of dominance in the game. He set the major league home run record with 29, then set it again with 54 (more home runs than 14 of the 15 other teams), and eventually got it to 60.

Most of his records stood for 30-50 years and even during the steroid era, with a variety of offense-favored rule changes over the decades, a lot of his records have only been broken by a very select few individuals after 100 years.

But what's really crazy is that he pitched too (mostly early in his career). I struggle to name anyone else who was a very good pitcher and very good batter in the MLB since Ruth besides a current guy who appears bound to make some history of his own.

He was a notorious drinker, smoker, and womanizer (a detective hired to follow him to enforce a morals clause in his contract infamously tracked him going to six different women's rooms in one night before a game). He was also pudgy by the standards of a modern athlete.
