He's basically Zhang level, as proven by the fact that he just scraped a win due to 60 year old zhang gassing out late. The fact that he is a mandatory is ridiculous.
Parker level imo. Decent heavyweight and a credible opponent for anyone in the top 10 but won't be beating any elite fighters imo.
To be fair, the conditions for that fight were horrendous. It was like boxing on ice and maybe that unsettled him. But Zhang clearly won imo.
Now at least this is a reply with some content to it. Lack of an inside game? His body attack is good and he can in fight . Check and you will see. His hook to the body is very good. I agree he can use his jab a bit more, and it has real potential but he's still developing isn't he? Fury has fought any young contenders aside from Wilder and had more problems than Hrgovic on the way up in fights where Fury was knocked down, should have lost on points, or in some cases had resort to fouls.
I agree about Fury, No one ever mentioned his 17th fight when Neven Pajkic knocked him down but Fury managed to get back up and win in the end. Not only that fight, Fury didn't look his best in a couple of fights...
He never meddled at the Olympics Joshua knocked him out in 2 rounds I think and in that Olympics Joshua arguably lost all 3 of his other fights. Clearly losing to Savon and winning the other 2 on countback.
Bottom line is Hrgovic isn't fighting enough and at a high enough level. He needs way better matchmaking and promotion. Right know he's regressing badly.
Match making has been an issue! Guys don't want to fight him. Hrgovic must wait until the IBF title match and the dust settles from Hrgovic and Fury. Take a match inbetween to stay active vs a top 100 opponent. Jon Duhaupas would be a perfect stay busy fight .
Only if the belts are vacated and we see a host of new champions. Which is what I hope and believe will happen after the undisputed fight/s. No chance in hell that Hrgovic beats Usyk or Fury. To answer the thread; in this game you're only as good as your last fight. Hrgovic should be rematching Zhang to silence his many critics. He's C+ at best for me, somewhere between Otto Wallin and Michael Hunter.
He won't beat the over rated Fury or the aging Usyk? Okay, you are in for a shock if the ever fight him! Hrgovic is on par with the fringe contender in Wallin how gutted Fury like a fish, or the cowardly Hunter who backed out a title elimination match to meet him. Sure whatever you say.
Sounds like most prospects these days. If you aren't the top Brit or American prospect, you will have a hell of a time getting decent fights.
