And here’s me thinking that I was the only boxing historian in the village!!
And here’s me thinking that I was the ONLY BOXING HISTORIAN in the VILLAGE!!

Me being, of course, the sole purchaser of the one and only copy of the Ring mag. supplied by my local newsagent per month.

Last month they were sold out!!! OMG. This will not do at all.

So much for my feeling exclusive - I might have to move to another less qualified forum/village.

Take solace in the fact that choklab considers you a historian, well, mostly if you are agreeing with him ;)

Puggy would you and @JohnThomas1 consider going all in with my view so I can amend my statement to "Most historians consider Cleveland Williams to be the number 1 H2H heavyweight"? (Since according to Chok logic, a mere 3 "historians" constitutes as most).

Yes, I think 3 is a sufficient quorum in this instance. I’m ALL in. It’s up to John Boy now to bring us up to the magic power of three.

Impossible to say isn't it, Marciano never faced a wrecking ball like Foreman, my money would be on Foreman doing the exact same to him, no way could take a sustained beating from Foreman, I'm not even sure Marciano could take all the punches Frazier did against Ali.

It’s official. Most historians agree Williams is the greatest of all time. I’m gonna pop the champagne!

Don't get too excited, that's only the H2H greatest. Ernie Terrell is looking like slipping into the ten too :D

Me, Pugguy, and a third to be determined historian will prevent that from happening!

Errr um yeah. Let me go full Chok making a case for Terrell in the top ten.

He was champ in the 60s, defeated numerous (at one point) no. 1 contenders in Machen and Folley. Beat the aforementioned Machen even easier than Liston did. Only losses in his prime were to men most historians consider the number 1 H2H heavyweight, and the number 1 ATG Heavyweight, and was the best fighter in the mid-60s (Not named Muhammad Ali).
