he had an off night against Zhang but still got the win. Everyone has off nights. Judging Hrgovic overall hes a solid fighter. & youre disrespectful to zhang. Hes a huge puncher with big amateur pedigree. Hes no bum.
Don't tell that to people who voted he is a C+ fighter.. The are either haters or don't know what a C+ means / probably did not see may fights in his career. Hrgovic for those who know had a good amateur career ( he was robbed vs super heavyweight Yoka who won gold ) in 2016 Rio Olympics and kicked @ss in very pro like world series of boxing. Since turning pro he take five 0's, as in undefeated fighters records away from them and is one of the top 2 or 3 prospects in the heavyweight pro game. See my undefeated prospects heavyweight prospects thread. It's way more that just a bunch of names.
Not from what we saw in the Zhang fight, whenever Zhang got inside he looked completely clueless and unable to do anything. But we can't really look too much into the Zhang fight as others have said sometimes a fighter has an off night and Hrgovic definitely had a reason to have an off night with the death of his father. It's too soon to throw him on the trash heap just yet. But I really want to see some improvements in the areas I mentioned if I am to rethink my assessment of him. His next couple of fights should hopefully give us some insight.
Hrgović has looked bang average in almost all his fights. Zhang has amateur pedigree but he’s a 40 year old man with a terrible gas tank
Okay he can improve and he did beat Zhang who at best won 3 or 4 rounds over come a doggy flash knock down / push down in round one and a class of heads in toured three. In may ways Zhang is better than the guys Fury or Wilders have fought! He's a power punching south paw with a good chin and good skills and was undefeated. Hrgovic was off the night but he answered the chin and heart questions that all prospects have including semi biased ref and a wet ring which hurt him because he's the more mobile fighter. Agreed it was a B- effort from him ( you're overall grade for him ) vs a ring magazine ranked top ten opponent. Note there is a difference vs. a good opponent. Fury and Wilder had worse grades vs their non ranked opponents if we are being honest! But like you said he has room for improvement and other wise he been a grade A prospect. I think you not assessing his full amateur and full pro career as I have, focusing your comment on the Zhang fight which I provided details of. His next fight is either a tune up or the IBF world title fight.
I know fighters can have off nights but the Zhang fight has completely changed my opinion on Hrgovic He was very fortunate to come away with the win and looked absolutely disinterested at times and I thought on a few occasions he was possibly looking for a way out.................... which isn't a good sign at all.
you are letting your fanboyism of him for years cloud your judgementon him he looked terrible vs zhang and has looked average at best in pro game..he can only pick up a belt if they split and gets a lucky draw of opp.
That was the most disconcerting thing about that performance, how he responded so oddly to adversity. But he did stick it out and didn't quit, but it did look at times he didn't want to be there. I do wonder how much of that was due to the recent death of his father, something like that can mess with your head.
We'll see. That was my opinion on Klitschko too. The haters and naysayers were out in full force before he won any titles. In the end I was right and there are a few guys who remember me calling it. I got the same opinion of Hrgovic though not quite as strong as I did for Wlad. Based on what I know and seen ( 100's of prospects ) he the real deal. World Alphabet champion at the minimum. I'm not what you refer to as a typical " fan boy " Few know boxing like me. In the gym among the fighters he is viewed as the real deal from the men he has sparred with. Guys like Wlad, Wilder, Haye, and more.
I'm not one to hang his hat on excuses but apparently he and his father were close. He got married around the same time. A lot to deal with for any man. He was into the Zhang fight.
He would need to make some serious adjustments to become an A+ level fighter. I have him at B+. He's pretty good at everything, has pretty good intangibles, he's just pretty good. Something about his movement looks the smallest bit labored, and these small bits are where Great fighters look Great.
