    Both were excellent amateurs :number_one: And both started their pro careers hugely impressively

    So overall who would you say through the amateurs to the first 20 pro fights was the most impressive? - Oleksandr 'the cat' Usyk The Ultimate road warrior Or Muhammed 'The Louisville Lip' Ali :cool:

    I think it’s very hard to argue against Usyk here. And just think… pretty much ALL of his world championship wins have been in his opponents backyards!! Who else has done that??

    Usyk hands down in this one!

    Both done extremely well but fought in different eras, Ali’s era was 15 rounds with 1 belt holder and Usyks era was 12 rounds with multiple belt holders as well as Ali’s first pro fight being around 53 years before Usyks first pro fight .

    Usyks wins were all on the road though, and he was in an era where the world could compete. Ali fought mostly only americans.

    I would make a strong argument for Leon Spinks here. Olympic Champion then 8 fights later, World Heavyweight Champion.

    Nah. Compared to Usyk’s road? No. Sorry. Lol

    Spinks rose up the ranks to a title impressively yes but he didn’t unify two different weight classes in his opponents backyards. What Usyk has accomplished is unheard of

    1 ALL of Ali's world championship wins have been in his opponents backyards, too: the U.S. -- not exactly Ali's fault that the belt holders were coincidently all Americans ~
    2. Easier to unify when there's a competition that featured all of the belt-holders ~

    Ali had 20 fights in like 4 years, Usyks barely going to have more than 20 fights in his entire career.

    Careers are cultivated so differently in the modern era (usually) such as to make these comparisons a bit apples and oranges, imo.

    Clay made his professional debut on October 29, 1960, winning a six-round decision over Tunney Hunsaker. From then until the end of 1963, Clay amassed a record of 19–0 with 15 wins by knockout. He defeated boxers including Tony Esperti, Jim Robinson, Donnie Fleeman, Alonzo Johnson, George Logan, Willi Besmanoff, LaMar Clark, Doug Jones, and Henry Cooper. Clay also beat his former trainer and veteran boxer Archie Moore in a 1962 match.
    These early fights were not without trials. Clay was knocked down by both Sonny Banks and Cooper.
