why so nationalistic That's like who's who of most protective of their zero list/ who's scared to take risks list It's a shame American fighters aren't warriors wanting to face the best these days. Spence and Crawford in particular need to man up and face each other.
The heavyweight champion of the world only fighting once or twice a year is always going to kill the sport..
Broadly speaking that is true, and good, and overdue. In terms of specific matchups, however, this year - and indeed the whole pandemic era aside from a few outlier bright spots - has been kinda mid.
Because I'm American and have love for my country's fighters. Should I not root for fighters from my country? I like other fighters from other countries to but 2022 has been a great year for American boxing.
People who say otherwise are stupid. I'm Irish, I support Irish fighters, why wouldn't an American do the same. I don't consider myself super nationalistic but I'll support my countryman. If you don't want to fair enough, but mind your own business if you think others shouldn't.
Spence - fought once against a 36 year old Yordenis Ugas Benavidez - fought once against a small and faded Lemieux Haney - great year Stevenson - great year Plant - good win over Dirrell Rodriguez - exposed against Israel Gonzalez Fulton - ducked Inoue. Again only fought once in 2022. Davis - fought once against a C level fighter Charlo - did he even fight this year ? Shields - great win over Marshall Crawford - another year fighting nobodies with 1 fight. Fundora - good year Prograis - good win Ortiz Jr - one fight in 2022 Ennis - one fight in 2022 So in short, it was a year full of inactivity for American fighters. Not amazing at all.
Dead year, so boring, i've had to turn to finding shows or even movies to fill the space, at least the nba is still producing.
True but the problem is the full year is so long that a few here & there doesn't make up for it all, Especially when there filled with extreme mismatches that even betting $50 is not worth it, Most fighters & promoter/managers just secreting plotting away, quietly viewing in silence & maneuvering for their fighters so they can get the upper hand any way possible, less of a sport now & more of a game of business & you can include a lot of the fans in that as well.
A few edits here & there but yeah i was going to say the same, some had great wins but most just didn't fight as much or fought someone no one really cared to watch because of knowing who'd win before hand, Plus disagree with Plants win over dirrell being good, would have been if he actually fought a better opponent & win.
A lot of them don't have to due to being in the drivers seat by having strong promoters & teams in their corner, it's usually why you see the rest of the regions willing to do anything just to get on any show & be featured & don't have any qualms about the titles, purse percentages, etc.
