    Forerunner for Seis de Mayo. Unifying the WBO super middleweight interim title held by Ryder with the regular held by Álvarez (along with the WBA, WBC, and IBF).

    I want to say this could be a fun firefight, and it could, but my gut says it more plausibly augurs a messy twelve followed by a controversial slate.

    As in, to dream land? Idk, he is yet to ever taste canvas in his career AFAIK. (his one stoppage loss was standing, courtesy of Howard John Foster)

    Granted the same could have been said of Beefy, Kovalev, Yıldırım or Plant until they fought Canelo, but still. If there's one truly world class trait Ryder can be said to have, it's toughness - and if it does come down to him getting hurt badly by anything, as long as it isn't a very unlikely one-shot kayo, I don't think Canelo's inside game is strong enough to neutralize that rough clinching that gave Jacobs hell.

    Ye and I can't stand Canelo. If it were another boxer I'd say that there's a chance that Ryder comes in 100% while Canelo takes him lightly and pays the price. Unfortunately ginger always comes in tip top shape.

    I voted for Ryder by KO, because that's what I really really hope happens. Will it? Highly doubtful. I think John could keep it close, and possibly go the distance, but won't quite do enough to get the decision.

    Ryder is a good fight he's game asf and very tough, but these are the guys Canelo looks really good against. Canelo UD.

    Canelo struggles with movers, boxers who keep it long, have excellent footwork and control range.

    Come forward pressure fighters are made for him. Ryder has a more nuanced skillset than an Angulo or Kirkland, but would have little chance of winning.
