Fair enough, across the board. I hope it comes together soon, either way. I still tend to think it will be close and competitive, but I can certainly see things playing out not unlike what you're depicting here. Although I do see the clash of styles proving far more challenging for both guys than you do. But either way, I'm hopeful we'll get to see it happen so we can see how the styles clash in actuality. Happy New Year! Cheers!
Same, and it wouldn't shock me, especially early.... but I still think Loma will win by late TKO. Happy New Year to you too Rummy!
CST nailed it on the head Loma fought Lopez with a torn shoulder... and still fought to a draw Jamaine Ortiz is a damn good fighter that will give Shakur absolute hell Big, strapping, aggressive and sharp combination puncher ...and Loma was rusty as he's ever been That's the best fight he could have possibly taken to get back to form It was 4-4 through 8rds...and then Loma gassed him and won the last four 8rds to 4 is a competitive fight, but it's not close This Loma vs. Haney fight is going to be controversial It's never easy for an audience to accept that the much (much!) bigger man is fighting in reverse all night against a very undersized opponent It's a bad, bad visual Loma will have a hard time cutting angles and getting inside on Haney, but Haney will be spraying and missing tons upon tons of punches In a fair world Lomachenko wins 116-112 I think But everything in the world is fake and gay now Does TopRank throw Haney the win so that he resigns to fight Shakur, Lopez, Prograis, Taylor etc ? Or maybe Haney shocks us but the world needs a good Ukrainian feel good story? Controversy written all over a visually frustrating fight
At this stage of both men's careers I'm going with Haney, too young, too big, and he does possess good boxing skills. I'll go with Haney in a 116-112 type fight give or take a point . Haney should be able to control distance with his advantages which will limit the volume Loma needs to win rounds. Just my two pennies opinion.
What people fail to realize is that Haney now understands what he has in his arsenal and he knows how to use them. That second fight with Kambozo hardened him as a fighter. He has confidence in his chin and his considerable skills. The only fighter bringing something new to this encounter is Haney. Loma won't be fighting the boy Haney but the man Haney. It won't be easy but it will be decisive. Loma will be in the best shape that he can be in but it won't get him the win because it won't be enough. Haney will not be denied.
Too much pressure on Loma right now, not related to boxing, I hope he can handle that and become even stronger.
I would tend to agree with you if this were the Loma that stooled Rigo and Walter's. Now, I see it being more competitive. 8-4, 7/5 with some close rounds that Loma eeks out.
I would be extremely surprised if either fighter wins this matchup easily. Haney's size, length, jab, athleticism (good not great athlete) and maturation--he knows how to apply his advantages to maximum effect-- are a problem for anyone at 135lbs. Likewise, I believe a lot of folks are prematurely dismissing Loma as a result of his most recent performance. While not as fast of foot (or hand, for that matter) as he once was, Loma is still plenty quick with oodles of championship experience and pedigree. Moreover, he'll also be the best opponent Haney has ever shared a ring with, and by some measure.
