I wouldn't put Hearns over Duran on here. Both atg's and I'm not sure I'd ever favor Duran to win.

 

The Duran who fought Hearns in 1984 was a shell of the one who defeated Leonard in 1980, the original plan was for Duran to fight Hearns after his rematch with Leonard probably in 1981, I cant see Tommy beating Duran at that time.

 

Duran just prior had come within a point of beating Hagler.

 

It was actually pretty close. I can see the argument for Foreman winning but also for Briggs.

 

Yes indeed and after that fight went about partying it up again, he signed the fight with Hearns not taking it seriously as Hearns had not looked all that devastating since his loss to Leonard. Duran just barely made weight and most of his training for that fight was just losing weight.

 

Yep , sometimes Duran could be inconsistent.

Baldomir was better at welterweight than Gatti ever was.

 

Baldomir was an enormous 147. I don’t see him ever getting that low anywhere near his prime.

I think Ivan Robinson having Gatti’s number is a better question. Robinson was a good am if I remember right but basically did nothing notable in the pros except beat Gatti.

 

Pat Lawlor d. Benitez and Duran

 

Gatti was not a great fighter. He was a good and very popular fighter

 

Vilomar Fernandez d. Alexis Arguello when Alexis was still in his prime might be the best one you listed

 

Robinson’s best win outside of Gatti is James Crayton. Gatti’s resume looks like Ali’s by comparison (ignoring their fights with each other).
