Don’t see any reason why Whyte can’t be the April comeback fight, He is a crap fat plodder anyway so would be ideal. The Wilder fight will only happen in the Autumn if he loses to Ruiz as if he wins he will be WBC mandatory anyway.
AJ vs Whyte is in no way a better fight than Fury vs Chisora. So for as much as I hated the well paid sparring session, AJ vs Whyte is just two failed plodders.
All of this fighting once, twice a year if we are lucky, does fighters no good in the longer term. #1 - They become inactive, they get rusty, they become complacent. They think they are "It". #2 - They take their eyes off the ball, eyes off what made them what they became, enjoying their riches too much. Save that enjoyment of riches for when you retire. #3 - Fighting once or twice a year is semi-retirement. Once you hit that mode, there ain't no going back usually. You're more likely to end up banged the F out. #4 - Semi-Retirement just equals paydays. Grab what £££ you can, screw legacy. Sad really when one is already minted to last at least 30 generations. I thought Legacy, History, Acknowledgement meant something. Silly me.
It's especially bad when they spend so much time having rematches that aren't needed now. I genuinely wouldn't be surprised to see Fury and Wilder go again
One fight per year for the last 3 years. AJ doesn’t enjoy fighting regularly. It will be the Whyte rematch for 2023 and then a long lay off. They will no doubt once again try to link him with Wilder and Fury for clout, then end up fighting another cherrypick in 2024. Fury said that he wouldn’t even negotiate with him for another fight, after the last one didnt get made at the back end of 2022. He said it’s clear AJ doesn’t want the fight, he just wants the clout.
Just as I believe we will get Fury vs Usyk during this year, I also believe in Fury vs AJ during 2024.
I have doubts about Fury vs Usyk as well. The majority of big HW fight negotiations are clout chasing and not genuine negotiations.
