Tyson Luke Fury vs. Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Usyk

First class post sir. You clearly see a true pugilist, which Usyk is. A pleasure to watch. Honourable and a gentleman as well, a great asset to the sport.

 

Usyk by UD. He is in a class by himself, both in and out of the ring.

 

Alot of people in here predicting an easy fight for either fighter are going to look incredibly foolish when the two are in the ring together.

If you claim Usyk is too small, you need to go back and watch some of his WSB fights. Likewise if you are pointing to Furys worst performances as having significant relevance to this fight you need to re educate yourselves on the various champions boxing has had. Some train their asses off year round and always fight at a high level....some can only get truly motivated for bigger fights and often look subpar against "lesser" opposition. Fury will look at his best against Usyk.

I can't wait for this fight, but I'm also quite excited to see all the excuses you fanboys of either side throw out after the fight.

I've seen a lot of people say if Usyk loses his more rampant supporters will throw out things like "He was too old," "the war distracted him," "Fury was too big" and so on, and I can absolutely see that, but this got me curious. What will Fury fan boys say if he loses? I feel like one is "Usyk only got the nod because of the situation in Ukraine" if it's a close one, with another possible one being blaming the elbow surgery he claimed to have, if the fight happens soon.

I've always thought Fury will get old overnight and get spudded. That pituitary gland engorged body will go bang all of a sudden, rather than a prolonged slowdown.

I think 'size' is mentioned too much. Usyk is about 6'3. Twenty years ago he'd have been considered a decent sized heavy. 40 years ago he'd have been bigger than Foreman.

 

Sorry to disappoint everyone but the fight is not signed and Frank has been saying this for a while now. Lets wait for an official announcement before getting over excited on this one.

 

Fury will beat him and make it look easy. Most likely a KO within 7 or 8 rounds.

He's a giant who moves like a LHW and who's not afraid to take a punch. Good jaw, decent power but most importantly: He's a good boxer.

How do you know he’s class outside the ring? Show me some evidence on how you came to that assumption

 

I think Fury has surprised us by not going off the rails again, not blowing up massively in size or going AWOL, and for a number of years with extended breaks too. I think if he was going to do that, it would have happened by now.

This suggests he isn't going to slacken off for this fight. I believe his fear of Usyk and of losing will make him come in very prepared and dedicated. And it's going to be very hard for Usyk to beat him in that mode. Usyk's problem is that he's so good Fury likely knows he has to be at his best and so will be like he was for Wlad I or Wilder I & II, really sharp and focused.

The wildcards are whether Fury really has lost his legs as some say and can't be as mobile and defensively tricky as he once was, and Sugar Hill being a clown and providing terrible tactics, whether Fury listens to them or not.

I think we need a bit more info, we need to see how Fury looks close to the fight and whether he looks to have returned to some of his older fleet-footed ways, maybe dropped some weight he's picked up while with Hill.

If he wants to do the 270+ weight, that's likely not a good idea and he'll still be very hard to beat if he's focused but Usyk might have a much better chance of hitting him and outworking him.

But for the moment it looks to me like Fury is going to come in pretty dangerous here. The signs aren't that he's going to underestimate Usyk or come for a paycheck or that he's got no motivation to train properly etc. I think he's terrified of losing to Usyk and will do everything he can to win.

I'd pick Fury UD unless he looks too fat and slow in the build-up and has Hill talking up a KO.
