It all depends on who wins this huge fight but if Usyk beats Fury and gets a few title defenses… he himself will be in that conversation. With his amateur pedigree and the fact he unified a very stacked cruiser weight division… Definitely
He hasn't been embarrassingly KO'd by marginal contenders like Lewis was so that's a plus but he still needs to do more to be in the conversation. The mental health sabbatical and COVID wasted about 5 years of his career.
No not yet - simply because you should judge a fighter when his career is all said and done. If Fury retires undefeated with wins over Wlad, Wilder, Usyk and AJ then it would be tough not to put him in front of Lennox.
The clowns have explained that they'll ''only consider talking about it'' when Fury does A or B. Fury needs to be beat some HW midgets like Tua or shot Mike Tyson. Then Evan Fields, a guy that got KO'd by a career MW. Then he will need to take out the great Shannon Briggs. Along the way he needs to get one-punched by some gatekeepers. Only THEN will he even be in the conversation! Wlad would detonate on Lewis and leave him unconscious. If Vitali can land like that, Wlad can too and Wlad finished people with very few shots. If Lewis fought Wilder three times, he would get KO'd in at least one, potentially all three fights. If Rahman can land a RH he doesn't see, imagine what Wilder can do with faster hands and far more power. Fury is clearly better than Lewis and would beat him. The brand names don't matter.
Lewis’s is retired and has been for a long time however Fury is still fighting so best to assess both there merits when Fury himself is retired.
You mean apart from miniq and similar irrational fanatics? No objective analyst would ever do so, no. Fury’s legacy is a joke. Lewis had eighteen title fights and epic matches against multiple ATGs. His resume is practically a who’s who of the HW division of the nineties and early noughties. The man faced everyone and ducked no one. The only notable fighter he didn’t fight from that era was Bowe - and even that was because Bowe ducked him. Fury, on the other hand, even though he is approaching 35 and had 34 bouts, only had six title fights: one against an almost forty year old Wlad, three against a flat-footed one trick pony, one against an uppercut magnet plodder and one against an almost forty, 12 losses plodder. Fury had 34 fights and his resume is still absolute rubbish. Lewis would never have fought a voluntary and shameless cash grab sparring session against someone like Chisora as a reigning WBC champion. Even when he wanted to rebuild his confidence and career after the McCall loss, he fought the likes of Morrison and Mercer. Fury, on the other hand, fights Seferis and Pianetas to rebuild himself after a PED ban. Lewis and Fury are so far apart in terms of legacy, Lewis is so far ahead of Fury in every single aspect that it’s not even funny. Fury at the very least would need to beat Usyk, Joyce, Ruiz and Joshua (and possibly the likes of Parker too) to be anywhere near in the conversation where he could be cautiously mentioned in the same breath as Lewis - and even that is a stretch.
