Will Ryder perform better than the previous UK hopefuls against Canelo?

Levels to this game and I don't see Ryder being at Canelo's level.
The Bivol defeat shows everyone has a weakness - in Canelos case, he was slow of foot and couldn't get his shows inside Bivols excellent defense but Ryder doesn't have those same attributes.
In one of his biggest fights Ryder did some great work early in the Smith fight but let it slip later on. He isn't going to out fight Alvarez on the inside and that's where he's going to have to take it as he won't win behind a jab and move type strategy. I see this being like the Liam Smith fight where because of his style he will have some bright moments but eventually the better fighter finds the better punches and closes the show.

One thing that does interest me in this fight is how well Alvarez performs. If it's a one sided beat down on dominant performance fine but if Ryder has sustained periods of success or it ends up being a real close fight we could be starting to see all these years of fighting 60 fights in... Canelos has less time at the top left than he's had fights up to now.

Think you've said it all better than I could.

I'll be rooting for Ryder, but Canelo's handled better guys than him and the qualities that have seen him get to this point aren't going to bridge the gap between the two. He'd need the performance of his life and for Canelo to have a very bad night at the office. One could happen, but the odds on both must be pretty high. Hope I'm wrong and if not that he gives a good account of himself and gets a nice payday in the process,

More than deserves the Alvarez money, and opportunity, particularly after the Smith rip-off.

Wrong style for Alvarez to lose to, but I think he'll give a good account of himself.

Love him to win, but a step too far I think.

I can’t see him giving a good account of himself. Canelo early to mid rounds.

    You're probably right.

What I meant is, he'll give a good go at least.

But an aggressive, come forward fighter is tailor made for the counter punching Mexican, particularly one that's not a fast, speedy/mover type fighter.

Well only Hatton, Rhodes and Khan went in with any honest endeavour, the other 3 were woeful, pure cash grabs!
Ryder has too much pride to mimic the lamentable trio! Alvarez, is far from Superman, John knows this, so you never know!

No....if he does better than Rocky it'd be a win.

Don't see him lasting the 12 like Smith did (Callum that is) and don't see him winning a single round like BJS did. (probably won 2 or 3)
