It’s Mayweather. The list of hofers, champions, and contenders beaten across different eras and weight classes is unreal. And he did it without defeat. People let their bias take over when comparing Leonard to him.
Pretty Boy is, IMO, comfortably greater than this Sugar Ray and in similar proportions comfortably less great than the other Sugar Ray.
They just don’t like Mayweather and were either little kids or young men who idolized Leonard in the 80s.
I have to edge Floyd over Ray, as No Neck said the breadth of his wins are pretty amazing. No question, Ray was sensational at his peak...but still, he did soundly lose to a blown up lightweight, and he stuck around way too long.
It’s hard to argue with an unbeaten record. Floyd for me. If the likes of De la Hoya, Alvarez, Hatton, Pac man, couldn’t deal with Floyd, it does make you wonder if anyone would of beat him. Floyd was a master at the art, and love him or loathe him, you have to put him up there as one of the best fighters ever.
I always forget and underestimate how much the Classic Forum's entrenched anti-Floyd mentality can derange otherwise quite rational and in fact brilliant minds.
SRL might have had memorable fights, but that's only cause he couldn't dominate his opponents the way FMJ did. And I'm not even a fan of Floyd, but he's greater.
